49ers | More Impressed with Rodgers than Smith Thus Far
Mon, 4 Apr 2005 11:33:48 -0700

Jay Glazer reports on FOXSports.com that the San Francisco 49ers' team brass were not overly impressed by how QB Alex Smith's (Utah) workout was run and they were more impressed by what they saw out of QB Aaron Rodgers (California). However, the team is scheduled to meet with Smith for a private workout shortly and that could go a long way in deciding the path the team takes on draft day.

good news... i would like Rodgers to go #1. Gives us a chance to trade down with a team that loves Smith or Edwards (read: Cleveland and Minnesota).

I think it'll come down to Brown and Smith if we can't trade down, although I think that Saban could make a trade down happen.

I'd like Mike Williams to get some attention.

Thanks fishy. Not a big shock; I think the consensus has been that Rodgers has been their #1 choice all along.

Mike Nolan and 49ers scouting department, now those are people have confidence in:roflmao:.

Boomer seemed to be convinced that they really wanted Smith a couple of weeks ago. If this is so, maybe they're posturing or trying to trade out of the top spot with the hope of picking him up later in the draft...maybe.

i could see us trading with cleveland and minny but i can't see us using the 2nd pick on brown. He's good but at #2 you have to pick a qb or wr with this draft.

i can appreciate the QB - especially Smith at #2. I would only take Mike Williams at WR, Braylon is not worth it at all IMO.

I think Ronnie will be a beast and can do everything. He is a franchise runner.
