Davenport never wanted to be the man, anyway. He was scared to leave Green Bay 2 years ago when we needed him. He's one of the few former Canes players that kinda lacks heart. With all of his talent, he should be a top five back.

Yeah, I remember when he could have gone and been a starter somewhere else, but wanted to stay a back up in Green Bay. What does that say about him. And I don't think it is because of team loyalty.

I was never sold on him to begin with. To think Wannstedt and Speilmen were ready to trade a second round pick for him. Weatehr Ricky comes back or not is irrelivent, as long as we have someone servicable to back up Ronnie we should be set.

He would have been a significant upgrade to Sammy Morris. I didn't think we needed him when he visited, even with RW issues. Too much money for a 3rd string backup who doesn't play STs...

That said, he'd have been a nice addition...

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports the Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms on a new contract with free agent RB Najeh Davenport (Packers). Davenport will sign a one-year contract, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Saturday afternoon, March 25. "Najeh will be in Green Bay Sunday night (March 26) and he'll sign the contract Monday (March 27)," Rosenhaus said. "We had several teams that were interested in him, but he really enjoys playing for the Packers and he wanted it to stay that way. He's very happy to get it squared away. It's good news."

Who cares, this guy has had one shot to shoulder the load and he couldn't last 1/2 a game. Last time I checked, a backup is supposed to be someone you can count on if the starter goes down. Well, this guy has never proved to be dependable. I'm glad we didn't throw money at him.
