With CK's blessing, I've taken over the duty of creating/maintaining this thread.
So here we are, about 53 hours before the start of the 2011 draft, and if you're anything like me you're almost incontinent with excitement.
Standard draft-watching equipment.
Many posters here are familiar with this contest, but for those who don't know, for the last three years CK has run a thread where posters make a list of 20 college prospects you think the Dolphins might end up with at the end of the draft. Any position, any school. The person who guesses the most prospects right... WINS.
Here's last year's thread: http://www.finheaven.com/forums/showthread.php?274784-3rd-Annual-Top-20-Contest
No, you don't win anything tangible. What you win, instead, are bragging rights. Which is of course valuable around here because as anyone who reads the Draft Forum knows... there's a lot of bragging that goes on. :D
What's interesting about this contest is how often people get these projections right. After all, of the 300 or so prospects who will be drafted over the next few days, it's likely that fewer than 10 will be picked by the Miami Dolphins.
But despite that, last year a lot of people projected John Jerry and Reshad Jones would end up Dolphins... and they did! Koa Misi and Austin Spitler also come up frequently and lo and behold... they became Miami Dolphins, too. The efforts of the Universal Draft guys to highlight players the Dolphins are interested in have, of course, made this somewhat easier. So our thanks go out to them.
Some rules/things to consider:
1.) Feel free to edit your picks for as long as you like... before the draft starts. Any posts made after 8 p.m. Thursday or any posts edited after that time will be disqualified and much shame will be brought on your family.
2.) As of right now, there's a lot of confusion on what's going to happen with the undrafted free agent process. I think we'll all have to keep an open mind as the week goes on but if it looks like there won't be any undrafted free agents signed for a while ("a while" to be determined later), we'll have to constrain the contest simply to players who are drafted. I mention this because astute contest participants in the past have chosen to backload their entries with priority free agents, so if you're thinking about doing that this year keep in mind it could blow up in your face.
So that's all. This contest is FUN (it's what made me stop lurking and become a semi-active poster, actually, hence my enthusiasm for it) and is of course free to enter, though donations are welcome (PM me for details). So please enter. As in the case of orgies, and also chicken wings, the more the merrier.
I haven't finished my own list yet but please feel free to post yours. Last year four correct projections won this thing, so let's get on it! Reward the research you've done with a chance at glory!
