4th Quarter scoring woes

That streak should have ended last week, but Philbin didn't challenge Gillesie's TD when he was clearly in, but called down at the six inch line. No doubt we would've won that challenge.
 
I have noticed Tannehill is awesome at the end of the first half and pretty bad at the end of the 4th Q.
I would also argue that it is NOT being too conservative. If they ran the ball more with a lead and 4 minutes left at midfield Against Buffalo we are in the playoffs.
Also, they stopped running against New England with a second half lead
 
The 4th quarter is the sole facet of Tannehill's play that I absolutely believe at present isn't good enough. All the rest is debatable and has other factors impacting it. His 4th quarter play in general I think can and must be improved. The strange part of it is that this infers that he doesn't go great under pressure. Yet his 2 minute offense is pretty decent. I just think we need to execute better in the last quarter. Teams have worked you out to an extent so late in the game and specifically in a one score game, play harder also. Couple of things would help us. Firstly, improve our overall play from quarters 1-3 and reduce the pressure on our O in the 4th and secondly, Tannehill has to play better. That's my overall opinion.
 
Philbin has had a lot off opportunities to challenge calls this year but he seems timid in deciding to do it and by the time he thinks its a good idea or gets the cahones to do it the other team is already hiking the ball. Gillislee totally scored a TD last week, his knee flexed back just before it appeared like it would hit the ground. Philbins just didn't want to lose a timeout cuz they're so precious to him at end of games. Use the freaking challenges they are used for your favor, we may need a better replay coordinator in the booth with how timid Philbin has been.

Lack of running game, lack of athletes in the ZBS and the loss of Gibson and Keller detracts from sustaining drives. The lack of sustained offensive drives has killed this team.
 
No doubt this has to get better. From the coaches, QB, skill guys and line.
 
Lack of rushes is mostly responsible for this
 
Finally, 10 points in the 4th and we win,

That moved us up to 28th place in 4th quarter scoring with 4.1 per game.

Not much of a jump but at least we ended the TD drought.

Backed the 10 point 4th, with a 14 point 4th quarter and another win.

Things are looking up,
 
wow you guys are already griping about the phinz. you do relize we are about to clinch a playoff birth.
 
Nobody is griping, this is a season long thread, read the dates.

If you did you would see progress.

Tannehill's QB rating in the fourth quarter is 20 points below his rating on the season, and he's taken 42% of his sacks during that quarter.

This likely has a great deal to do with why, despite his only slightly below-average QB rating, his WPA is currently 20th in the league among quarterbacks, due to the fact that plays in the fourth quarter typically weigh more heavily in the statistic:

Tannehill's WPA is now up to 16th in the league, and his WPA today (0.73) was higher than the average WPA per game of any quarterback in the league. Note the difference in the outcome of the game.
