The more Depth on the o-line the better thats the way i see it !

He probably wants to make this guy a center since he has great size and pritty good speed:rolleyes:

Joe Toledo hahah great name

Why not he seems to know waht he is doing and researched him and even meet with him personnally.

When Daunte comes back, Saban will have to give him the best possible protection he can. So I voted Yes.

I still say our line was as good as any in the league by the end of the year. We were near the top in fewest sacks and both our backs ran for over 4ypc. I think alot of people around here is still wanting to fix what isn't broken. Remember that was Houcks 1st year with them and they were learning most of the year and looked great and I beleive they went like 7 games without giving up a sack with a qb that holds the ball way to long.

I think that Saban has a plan but I wish he would let us know what it is.... If we were going to take a OL in the 4th why not use a guy or picks to get Jean Gilles about 10 picks earlier.

I like the pick I just don't know anything about Toledo, but I am sure Nick has done his research.

Toledo is a huge project that probable won't be productive for at least three years. We could have picked up Zemaitis/CB who could have added more needed depth in our secondary. Signing Pearson on Friday was depth need for the o-line.

Maybe, just maybe, Saban and the Miami coaches arent as high on Jean Gilles as some are. Also a possiblity that he did want him, and miscalculated and thought he would still be there when Miami chose.

I agree with this, except that we are already WAY DOWN on amount of draft picks, and IF we pick up Harrington, that already cuts into next years also. If Jean-Giles had fallen to us, great.
That said, I dont agree with it. I think there are larger needs to fill, and it seems like there are always quality BACKUP Olineman in the 7th...

But, Saban is the boss, and I love the job he has done so far. I am sure that Houck had much to do with this, and there is nobody better in the league (World) at olineman than Hud-Houck

I'm concerned, however I don't think they will keep him at tackle.

I see him being moved to guard to be Rex/Jeno's primary backup as I don't see much in Joe Berger. This is the only way that pick makes sense.

Houck better be a huuuuuuuuge believer in this guy with that injury history.

Because we would have had to give up the rest of our draft to move up those 10 spots to get Gilles, and there are going to be some guys available in the 7th round who can help us over the next year or two.

Berger is the man from his bio. What have you seen in him to make that statement? He didn't give up a sack in 3 years in college and was a 4 year starter and is capable of playing both G and T which he did in college.
