Wow, we're on board as to having something done right for a change.

[h=3]5. Koa Misi, Miami Dolphins[/h] Years remaining: Two
Average remaining cap hit (per year): $4.2 million
Year after year, Koa Misi plays between 400 and 800 snaps and grades out favorably, even though he doesn’t always post high tackle numbers. In 2015, Misi posted career-highs in snaps and stops. His 85.7 run-defense grade was 13th best among linebackers. He was able to get pressure on over 20 percent of his pass rushes, which was fourth-best for 4-3 outside linebackers with at least 50 pass rushes.
The combination of his consistency and decent play means that Misi should be getting paid like a top-20 linebacker, while in reality he’s only getting paid like a top-30 linebacker. That isn’t a huge difference, which just speaks to the fact that there aren’t many veteran linebackers who are getting paid less money than they deserve.

On the flip side, 5 worst interior defender contracts:

5. Earl Mitchell, Miami Dolphins

Years remaining on current deal: Two.

Average remaining cap hit: 4 Million

Year he can realistically be cut: 2016

Playing alongside Ndamukong Suh in 2015, Mitchell struggled mightily, finishing 97th among interior defensive linemen with a 64.1 overall grade. He was especially weak against the run, finishing 60th among defensive tackles with a 4.2 run-stop percentage (for an overall run-defense grade of 34.2). He didn’t grade positively after Week 8 of 2015, accumulating just three stops and four pressures during that stretch.

Like Bryant, Mitchell’s contract is not an onerous one for the Dolphins, as he is due—at most—$1 million in dead money were he to be cut at any point over the next two seasons. That said, Mitchell has never finished higher than 30th in overall grading among defensive tackles during any point in his career, and yet his salary is currently 16th among 4-3 defensive tackles on a per-year basis. With the Dolphins allocating significant resources to Suh for the foreseeable future, it’s probably not the best use of resources to pay Mitchell like an above-average interior defender, especially given that they’re making asimilarly questionable move by paying Mario Williams $17 million over two years to replace Olivier Vernon.

Ahh the off season, where we have discussions ranking contracts

Don't think Misi is top 5 in anything

I believe that Mitchell one too. The sooner we can move on from him, the better

Misi will be cut. the reason why his contract is good because he sucks

Travis, I agree with you that neither is top 5 in anything, but there is a difference between both of those guys, if Kiko can be the LB we hope he can be, Misi's production will jump by leaps and bounds, while Mitchell will have three All-pros next to him on the line, and will still be one of the weakest points of the front 7.

From the article: "He was able to get pressure on over 20 percent of his pass rushes, which was fourth-best for 4-3 outside linebackers with at least 50 pass rushes." Top 5 in something...just sayin...

Wow... Hard to believe after seeing our sorry defense as whole

I do agree with Tay though that Kiko could/should really improve the whole unit

Misi is solid when healthy. Unspectacular, but solid.

Sure, I'll give you that. But when he misses 4-5 games a season and playing injured another 2-3 games of the season, that's half a season of unspectacular but solid play. Not saying much there.

The key to Koa's forthcoming season is how well Kiko Alonso settles into the mike LB role. If Kiko is fully confident and playing well, Koa will do well. He hasn't had a really decent mike LB with good instincts next to him before so he can focus purely on playing the sam LB role. It is popular on here to denigrate Koa but he loves our team and is capable of making a good contribution. Go Koa!

don't cut him

you got nothing at strong even if he is a 2 down player...strong is the one lb position that's ok

They would never cut him. We don't have any depth behind him, and he does fairly well when he actually IS healthy. The problem is that he's either banged up or out at least 4-5-6 games every season.

When you consider how much time he misses, he actually isn't outplaying his contract in any sense.
