I was never one of those guys that thought we were a contender this year. But, I have to say, there are some troubling things about this team. The thing that has to really bother you is that we are losing with veterans with no evidence, other than Daniels, that there are younger players that are even being trained.

1. Undisciplined. - I never thought any team could look more undisciplined than a Wanny team. But, the stupid penalties are just too much. It is one thing if it happened once or even twice. But we are 5 games in and it is worse.

2. Surtain for Roth. I wasn't against the Surtain trade, but in retrospect it looks pretty bad.

3. QB: I can live with Gus as a temp QB. But we have no options after him. A developing QB should have been on the roster.

4. Ronnie Brown. I said it then, I'll say it now. Ronnie Brown doesn't help this team. We need too much to waste the money and the pick on a RB. SHould have traded down.

5. OL: Needed help here, got nothing. They could cut McKinney right now and only the Texans would be dumb enough to sign him. How we didn't try and add some good young players here is a mystery.

It's hard to argue this, but I think you have to look at the situation. Wanny didn't have to deal with the turnover in personnel that this team has seen. Get back to me a year from now if things haven't turned around. It takes a long time to get so many new people on the same page.

2. Surtain for Roth. I wasn't against the Surtain trade, but in retrospect it looks pretty bad.

This is both an incredibly shortsighted statement and a completely inaccurate one. It is patently unfair to compare a veteran like Surtain to a rookie. Beyond that, this was a CAP move first and foremost. It's more like Surtain for Roth, Hollday, Carter, Jones, and Schulters.

3. QB: I can live with Gus as a temp QB. But we have no options after him. A developing QB should have been on the roster.

There are only so many moves a team can make at one time. I'm so sorry we didn't turn over EVEN more of the roster just to please you.

4. Ronnie Brown. I said it then, I'll say it now. Ronnie Brown doesn't help this team. We need too much to waste the money and the pick on a RB. SHould have traded down.

Have you forgotten that this team had nothing at RB as of the time the team picked RB? :rolleyes2

See above.

no, you say brown is a waste NOW when ricky comes back, but at draft time there was ONE glaring weakness for miami, and that was runningback. get a clue

Very excellent post.....it gives me some faith that this site still has some knowledgeable posters who know something about football. The level of "homerism here far exceeds any other site I have been to.

brown is good...u r a sore loser

I think Brown is good. I like him I think he will be a good NFL back. That does not change anything I said.

well i wanted rb morency in the 3rd rd and we could have had a qb in rds 1 & 2 ,getting cb darrent williams in the 4 th rd would have helped so . if we had drafted Aarron rodgers or kyle orton then drafted wr mark clayton rb morency and cb williams wwe could deffinately been better but that is neither here or there so we jusst need to fire the entire defense and oline and most of the receivers and then we can get back to being good.

How bout this conclusion.....miami is night and day. Two totally different teams. They are pretty good at home, and suck away.

I agree wholeheartedly with # 5, but maybe Hudson and Nick were convinced that it was just bad coaching last year that could change the OL. I think we see now, that this offense is crippled because of the poor OL. It makes Frerotte look worse than he really is.

I don't think they're two totally different teams -- they're just the run of the mill mediocre NFL team. I have said since the offseason that this team is likely going to end up between 6-10 and 10-6 like most of the average NFL teams and that the play in the last month or so will determine where in that window the team ends up. I have seen *nothing* to change that forecast.

Given where this team was last year, particularly before Wanny left, I think it's pretty darn good improvement. It is a work in progress, though.

1. Agreed, but this is the player's fault.
2. Too early to judge Roth, not to mention this thing called the Cap.
3. Who would you have gotten? Rodgers?
4. You're just totally wrong here.
5. We got Houck, since there were really no high quality players in our range for us to pick up.

Best post in this thread.

You are right to some degree, but every NFL team has significant turnover each season. That alone cannot explain why we are dead last in penalties.

WE gave up Surtain for a second we used on Roth. It is true we saved money, but not as much as you might think. Remember what a 2nd Rounder gets paid.

Forget pleasing me. I'm just a fan. But it seems to me everyone could have told you OL and QB going in to last season. I'm sorry if that observation seems to bother you. I'm not taking this personally, I'm just posting some thoughts.

I didn't forget anything. I agree we needed to add a back. I just don;t think it was our top priority considering how many holes we had to fill.

Let me get off the thread for a second, because there is something that goes on on the site that should bother any fans that just wasnt to have a conversation about the team.

You might disagree with me. Fine. I've been wrong before and I will be wrong again. So will you.

But, it just is ridiculous calling people names because you don't agree. I'd expect that of Jets fans. Sad to see it here.

Brown is our future, what is wrong with you? Do you not remember what it's like to have no premiere RB. SEE LAST YEAR.
