A year ago no one would have anticipated Laremy Tunsil falling to Miami at pick #13. Could another player unexpectedly fall in what's a loaded draft? Could the Dolphins be targeting some players we, as fans, haven't considered? Here are five players who I think are dark horse picks at #22.

Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
With the emergence of Jay Ajayi and the drafting of Kenyan Drake, the Dolphins are set at running back. But, Cook could be special in Adam Gase's offense. Then again, Cook could be special in any NFL offense. Would Miami go running back in round 1. I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
If the season started today, Miami would be in trouble at the guard position. That Miami didn't overpay guards on the free agent market is okay if the team has a plan moving forward. That plan has to be the draft. Personally, I don't see the Dolphins going offensive line in the first, but Robinson could be tempting. I think he would make a good left guard.

David Njoku, TE, Miami
The Dolphins are set-up short-term at tight end, but you know Gase would love to have one of the top guys from this loaded class. More likely the team looks at tight end late in the draft, but let's not forget that Gase still needs talent on the offensive side.

Jordan Willis, DE, Kansas State
After blowing up the combine, I'm surprised to see Willis still mocked in the second round. I actually don't think this would be a big surprise as Willis seems perfectly suited to Miami's wide 9.

Obi Melifonwu, S, Connecticut
Safety is a big need and Peppers would have to be a high consideration at #22. If Peppers is gone, would Miami go Melifonwu? He is projected near the bottom of the first or early second, but he would seem to check off all the boxes the Dolphins would like in the secondary. He is a 6-4 playmaker with some corner experience as well.

I would lose my mind if the Dolphins drafted Cook or Robinson at #22. I would break something if they took Melifonwu (he is a strong safety not a free safety). I could accept Njoku and Willis.

Obi Melifonwu.

We desperately need a FS. He's a great athlete, he's smart, and he's versatile. Most importantly he has incredible range which we haven't had at the safety position in . . . a long long time. Though at 22 is a bit early.

Do you believe he can play free safety?

I do. He's displayed the range on tape to go along with the explosiveness he showed at the combine with a 4.4 40 and a broad jump of 11'9". Both the best among safeties.

If he can play free safety, then I can get on board. I like Peppers a lot also. You don't feel Peppers can play free safety, correct? If not, what is the difference between Peppers and Melifonwu?

Range and that Peppers will require much more development at FS in terms of learning to quickly ID route concepts and progressions to break on and defend them in the proper time at the NFL level. Along with the need for a creative coach and hybrid scheme to use Peppers takes him out of the first few rounds for me and out of the equation for our defensive scheme almost out right.

I know FSU fans won't like this but Cook is a big no for me. His character concerns are too big. We don't need a RB that badly either

Obi Melifonwu and Jordan Willis are very much in play. As is Hassan Reddick

If we stay at 22, what is the projected salary for a player drafted in that spot? If it's 2-3mil a year than it actually might be a smart move to draft OL, since guards are now getting 10+ mil a year now.

Good point. I think the value there will be in round 2, though.

I think he has to be on Miami's radar. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that he hasn't been mocked higher after his combine. I still think the Dolphins will prioritize pass rusher, but have to think the team looks safety pretty early.
