You MUST win the turnover battle. If the Patriots don't turn it over (they had games without a TO last year), then you can't turn it over either, or the game is already over. That's what I discovered when searching for a way for the Jets to beat the Pats in the playoffs last year. Last year, when their opponents didn't turn the ball over, the Patriots weren't good enough to run away and hide, then it was just a matter of making a few key plays at the end of the game.
From '08-'10 (I didn't want to include anything from '07 or prior, those were different teams), the Patriots are 27-1 when they win the turnover battle, the best record in the league over that span, by far. (The lone loss was @Denver against Josh McDaniels. Many fist pumps ensued, Sparano would have been pleased.)

More so than against other teams, if you give them even 1 extra possession over the course of the game, you're dead in the water.
Don't turn the ball over (easier said than done) and you'll at least have a chance come 4th quarter.
