lets say jets werent offsides and drake's return never happens, how you think we do on that drive? i wasnt feeling too confident in our O at that point in the game, my feeling before the kickoff was we would kick a fg to tie it with about 2 minutes left and the jets would drive and kick at fg to beat us at the end.

maybe a better question, do you think gase sticks with the run game on that drive? its hard to be patient when youre down 3 with 5 minutes left.

Tough to say. Ajayi had 44 yards on their last drive to end the game. Would he have done that on their previous possession (the one you mention)? It's certainly possible.

Good question. Hard to say. Along those lines, I'd really like to know what Gase was saying to Tannehill. I'm guessing he was saying that he was going to have to open up the calls but Tannehill had to be aware of the pressure. Or maybe he was saying, don't sweat it...this is a TD return...

Wtf man?! Why do you want to argue over a hypothetical? Can't be satisfied with the win? You want to make up some fantasy let down, because you weren't disappointed in reality? Would you rather be a Browns fan to insure your misery?!

yea but its easier to stick to the run game when youre up by 4 trying to run the clock out. down by 3 with 5 minutes left is a different story.

I don't know, and neither does anyone else.

So I'm sure they will project their opinion of the qb into their alternate, imagined reality and trigger a few pages worth of the same arguments we've been reading for years.

So, great thread choice.

And for the record idk what would've happened but I would've liked to see it.

thats like saying what if Stills catches that pass from Tannehill in week 1....his QBR would be a lot better & we would have won that game also.

There was a decent amount of time left and the Jets would be keying on stopping the running game. Tannehill was 11-of 13 in the first half and did a decent job of moving the team and making plays to convert first downs. For example, the drive that ended with Darr dropping the snap on the punt would have been a first down had Jones held on to the pass. I think the key would have been could Miami avoid a drive breaking sack or key holding penalty that but them in a long second or third down situation.

Ajayi is averaging 6 yards a carry this year. I would've felt comfortable continuing to go to him down 3 or down 4.

They would've scored a TD anyway... Prove me wrong...

Agree. Too much speculation & The phins won... so who gives a $%^*#$!#@#%

This, the D-line was winded and somewhat beaten up, Ajayi being running down their throuts was starting to take it's toll on them, which would have forced them to bring more players up and risk getting beaten quickly through the air, or allow Jay train to slowly beat you.

I'll put it this way, based on recent years' play, I'm never at ease with Miami's offense or defense needing to rise in the moment to win a game late. However, based on the way Miami moved the ball during the game and the Jet's having struggles of their own it may have been interesting to see how it played out.

our D played better in the 2nd half but I wasn't confident in our D either. I wish we would have found out though:(

According to nyjunc the Jets team is full of quitters so we would have driven down the field for a TD anyway. Case closed.

I think Tannehill would have thrown an 80-yard bomb to Dominique Jones for the TD. Slowest player on offense and the most hated QB in recent Miami history win the game. Why not? Jets D quit so it's possible. If we're going to be hypothetical why not be outlandish as well.
