53 Man Projection as of 8-21

Here is my 53 man roster projection. Always tough as there are surprises abound every September. Have fun with it and submit your own. I may adjust some as of the Tampa game.

QB (3)- Henne, Moore, O'Connell

RB (3) Bush, Thomas, Hilliard

FB (2) Polite, Clay

TE (2) Fasano, Masturd

WR(6) Marshall, Hartline, Bess, Gates, Wallace, Moore

OL (9) Long, Carey, Pouncey, Incognito, Columbo, Murtha, Garner, Jerry, Feigna

DL (7) Starks, Soliai, Langford, Ordrick, McDaniel, Merling, Baker,

LB (9) Wake, Burnett, Dansby, Misi, Taylor, Edds, Mitchell, Alama-Francis, Spitler

DB (9) Davis, Smith, Carroll, Sapp, Ness, Bell, Jones, Clemons, Wilson

ST (3) Carpeter, Fields, Denney

Thoughts/Arguments
• Keep 6 WR (which I am not a fan of) However, I feel Moore and Wallace need one more year.
• Keep 2 TE’s with Clay playing some H-bacK? Search waiver wire for a TE that is athletic.
• You COULD keep 2 QB’s instead of the 3 I had to free up a roster spot with a QB on PS
• My punt returners can be Gates, Bess or Bush. KR will be Gates
• Major Cuts: Allen, Berger, Livas, Sheets

I think Epps will beat Mastrud, Fields over Baker, Livas over Moore. I also think Sheets makes it.

Feigna should be the first cut. He is terrible. Merling can go with him. Keep Fields instead.

Spitler is gone. Polite is probably gone also. Clay can play 3rd TE and FB...multi-position allows them to keep some elsewhere.

Did you see Livas get tackled like a rag doll against Carolina..Marlon Moore even though he dropped one long pass stood out more.He was around last season.Unless Livas tears it up this coming weekend..Moore beats out Livas.

Dedrick Epps over that mustard turd guy

Using Garner as 2nd team center just about seals the fate that Joe Berger is not going to be on the team much longer. Garner could then backup up C/G/T if need be.
I thik Murtha is better then Columbo but Columbo will get the start and Murtha will back up at T
Feinga and Jerry are about a toss up but I would go with Jerry Dressing on game day and Feinga being inactive on game day.

We need to hope that P Livas makes the 53 as a KR/WR.

He did not have the big game against the Panthers but then they worked to make sure he did not. The Panthers punted out of bounds and short to stop P Livas in our game. Watch the replay again.

As far as being a special teams player, there is a huge difference between being a tackler on special teams and a returner.

P Livas ran back more punts and kick offs for TDs then Ted Ginn did, remember the excitement we would have when we had a dangerous return man. Hard to think about it because it happened so rarely for us over the years.

I think this is the best group of UDFAs we have maybe ever had here. P Livas being here is not a accident, our FO had him pinpointed to sign with us and fill a role. A role that in the last couple of seasons we have not had a really good player for.

So we used Devone Bess. D Bess has a better overall average on punt returns in the NFL then R Bush has but has never returned one for a TD or ever been a threat to.

If P Livas cannot do it then we will try C Gates as a returner.

livas would be a bigger asset than moore IMO. moore probably wont even play but a handful of games like last season. with livas , he gives special teams a boost every game. i like moore and wallace but lets be honest, its year 3 for those 2 and neither are showing any signs of anything but career backups. if we did lose a wr to injury we could find an equivalent to moore easily.

I like keeping receivers that can help on regular downs or develop into something later. I think the change in KO's limits the need to have a pure KO returner.

I don't see Livas being kept over Moore. Livas is nothing more then speed at the PR position. Although Moore is still a little inconsistent with his hands he has speed as well being a ST contributor. He has a higher potential rate then Livas. Lok for Livas to land on the PS.

Especially with the new kick-off rules, it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep a guy like Livas who adds value only in the return game.

I think Livas adds value not only as a kick returner. Very explosive player with the ball in his hands. Watch his college and high school videos--impressive.

They won't cut Feinga and he's not that bad have you been watching ? He's doing better then Jerry.
