Check out Adam Beasley's story for the latest on Branden Albert and DeVante Parker.

Couple other notes: Though the Dolphins expressed initial interest in Evan Mathis, they have not pursued Mathis in recent days. Instead, they're eager to see how their young guards perform in camp...

ESPN's Adam Kaplan said "the first change we could see" in practice Thursday is Koa Misi moving back to outside linebacker and Kelvin Sheppard in the middle.

But that isn't a big change; Sheppard got time at middle linebacker in OTAs and the Dolphins have always been open in saying they would experiment with different combinations --- one with Sheppard inside and Misi outside, and one with Misi inside and Chris McCain outside. And Misi has said this summer that the Dolphins haven't told him which position he would play.

Fifth-rounder Cedric Thompson, Don Jones and Jordan Kovacs are hoping the Dolphins keep five safeties, because Louis Delmas, Reshad Jones and Michael Thomas will be on the team, and Walt Aikens made a very strong impression in the spring and appears the front-runner for the No. 4 safety job. So Jones' shoulder injury, which has landed him on PUP, is certainly a setback....

Couple notes on the two Dolphins pickups today: Undrafted rookie receiver Kai De La Cruz started only four games in his career at Louisville, catching 41 passes for 574 yards. He's the ultimate of long shots at one of Miami's deepest positions.. And Oklahoma State defensive tackle Calvin Barnett was All-Big 12 in 2012 and 2013. He spent time on the Cleveland Browns' practice squad last year before a season-ending shoulder injury.

 Just getting my fix in today, won't be around for first practice tomorrow. I'll be sure to check your updates when I can

sheppard and misi together means attack miamis base lbs in the passing game...although its probably miamis second best option...gets misi playing where he should be at strong and sheppard lacks range to even begin thinking of playing anything other than the mike

Would mean mccain destined for sub package duties where miami likely will find the going tough if hes gonna rush on the edge vs tackles...

Philbin wont play any of those rookie lbs in anything other than specials unless he has no other choice due to attrition

ced thompson needs to make this team...keep 5 safeties if you have to...he and aikens have some corner experience in a dire situation...ced thompson should be active for specials if nothing else...better option than many of the corners for that gig

WTF coaching staff, you don't draft Perryman to play MLB and now you are possibly going to move Misi back outside and start Sheppard at MLB. The LB's will definitely be the downfall of the defense this year. There just isn't enough talent in that group to cover the passing attack in today's NFL.

Misi can't get out of his own way most of the time. Don't see the infatuation with him. He's an average talent. Too often he gets hung up on blocks or completely driven out of the play.

Im excited about seeing misi in his second year at mlb.. Especially with a dumbed down scheme..

Time will tell....but pass coverage was hardly a strength of Perrymans skill set....was it?

I think we're gonna be ok.

Uhhh he's probably the best run stopping linebacker we have on the roster and he had experience before linebacker playing on the defensive line in college. I hardly saw him getting pushed out of a play or hung up on blocks.

Also, anyone who tags themself as "football guru" probably isn't.

Watch Mathis end up making less than he would have in Philly. And if Chip gets him back for less I'll take back all of the negative things I said about him this offseason.

Here is my prediction...Mathis does not happen for Miami yet he signs with someone for money we could easily afford.

I cannot believe this team is doubling down on Dallas Thomas.

No, it wasn't.
Perryman's upside IMO is to be a run of the mill NFL MLB, nothing special and not worthy of a 2nd round pick. Phillips was much more of a "boom or bust" pick but I don't mind the philosophy of taking a shot on a guy that could give us the most dominant interior defensive line in the league for the next 3-4 years if he pans out, especially with how bad our run D was last year... I still have nightmares about what the Ravens and Broncos did to us on the ground... Ugh. Can't watch that garbage again.
