First let me start by saying im not sold on Henne yet. I'm sure he will be a fair to good starter in this league at worst but will he be a Mario or Manning?????

Now there isnt any anaylisis in this thread and by that i mean i didnt compare the teams they played or how many seasons or games they sat prior to there first starts. the perfect example is Kurt Warner is the best but as we all know that team would have been great with any good quarterback playing.

The first 7 starts of their careers.* if they started one game in 2003 but then had 7 in 2006 i ignored the 2003 start and used the 7 in the same season. but if they started the last 3 games in 2004 and the first 4 in 2005 i used all 7 games.

The best at each stat is bold, the only tie is INT's and its 3 way.
Worst is italic and underlined.

I tried to use all of the starters in the NFL that seem to be a lock as a starter at least for this season.

To wrap it up I would have to say he has played well and as good as many of the Greats today. some of these QB's were let loose in their first few games and others handed the ball to the RB every time, and Henne has been somewhere in the middle.

I'm pretty sure we don't need to draft a QB for now and we may have the long term answer.

nice work, but i am tired of everyone saying henne's first so and so games, when he takes us to the promise land we start put him up there with the other qb's in the nfl right now he is just an above average qb, getting to good

He appears to be a quality starting QB. He needs work on his accuracy, especially on shorter throws but he has a very good arm and doesn't seem to get rattled easily. I'm pleased with Henne thus far. The Offense is avg 28 ppg since he took over.

I'm happy up to this point.....The next 6 games are going to mean something for us so this will be a good test for him.....The most impressive thing to me is how he takes care of the ball, I expected more int, I think he is getting some great coaching from the QB coach when it comes to throwing the ball a way and not taking dumb chances. The 2nd time around is big, it will be good to see what Buffalo and NE throws at him and how he responds. He didnt do that well against the Jets, he had that one big drive.......

I like Henne a lot now. I didn't coming out of the draft beacuase of certain things I saw at Michigan. I think his year tutilidge under Penny has taken care of most of that. I reallylike him. He is very even keeled, looks to have a short memory (Bucs game throws a pic tolose lead, and then leads us to game winning drive) and an absolute leader. He is a student of the game, can make every throw. I don't know what else you can ask for.

Needs to work on completion %. It's not all WR drops, some passes need more touch. 5-2 is pretty good though, can't complain there.

Still, someone post Jay Fiedler's record as a starter here. Means nothing.

The fact he's winning games has less to do with him and more to do with coaching, strategy, and the overall team.

The fact he's not LOSING us games (like a certain Jest QB) is all on him and gives me hope for his future.

His decision-making is at times very Pennington-esque, which is good. He's remained cool in pressure situations, which is also good.

But we won't get to see the real Henne until they take the handcuffs off. Once he's asked to WIN us games rather than not LOSE them, we'll see how much he's truly learned and whether he's fixed the issues that caused some concern when he came out of Michigan. For now, his stats mean little to nothing (they're not horrible and that's a good thing) because of the type of offense he's being asked to lead. How can you compare to guys who may or may not have been asked to literally win games from the start? Nor do you have a clear picture of how good those other teams were overall, or the type of offense the QB was asked to lead (run-heavy vs. pass-heavy).

Overall I feel there are reasons to be cautiously optimistic, but let's not read into numbers too much.

luckily all the mistakes are fixable, and it will make him a better qb, and at least he better accuracy than jamarcus russell, my god it is the worst ever

I have to disagree here. He was the major reason we won the first Jets game and the Bucs game. Now with the Bucs game, he threw a pic that gave them the lead....but then he led us to the game winning fieldgoal, with some seriously clutch throws including that long out pattern were the defender was right on the receiver. That was a special throw!

honestly I don't know that you can compare some of those QBs with Henne, just because they were all in different situations.

If you are serious fan of football, and have been for a long time, then you know Henne is someone to get excited about. The team reacts to him, he does not lose games, and he wins games. If you watched guys like Farve, Marino, Manning, Brees, and McNabb, early on you knew this QB would be good to a great QB. If you watched guys like Leaf, Akilli Smith, Cade McKnown, Russell, and Feidler in their first year starting you knew they would never be anything to write home about.

henne is seriously growing on me............ theres alot to like about him........
humble, hard working pennsylvania guy that leads by example, you won't see him posing for photo shoots for GQ... he's really as cool as they come emotion wise on the field..... pure business, a "parcell's guy" for sure. He also seems unfazed by pressure, especially for a 1st year starter.... no problem side stepping and flicking it away. He's what? 24? Looks to be as good as Ryan/Flacco right now ! So listen up naysayers.... stop trying to downplay the Henne excitement, this kids got all the tools and looks like THEEEEE guy right now....

Didn't he already do that? Getting old, but seems like he he had a drive at the end of a game recently that either sealed the game or won it.
