That would be about the line I draw when considering to replace Chad with Chad. I am a Pennington supporter, he has been playing great this season, but if we get to a point when the playoffs are dim, we have to start looking ahead. I still have faith in Penny to get this season back on track, but I think there is a strong curiosity to see what Henne can do out there.

I agree. :goodpost:

Absolutely no. 10 or more losses should be the limit. IMO of course...

Im definately not thinking playoffs, but I really dont want to see Henne in this year for the same reason why Beck got ruined

I really dont think our offense is that bad with Pennington. Our Defense is what has been losing us games mostly. As mentioned above, lets not throw Henne to the dogs. He is much to young and needs time to adjust to the tempo and learn the offense. Pennington made some bad decisions against the Ravens, but the games we have lost this year have all been very within reach if our defense was not giving up so much.

If you believe that Henne can be "ruined" by starting in his rookie year then you can't think much of his mental makeup. It's not like we have an terrible offensive line or run game where he is going to get sacked every other play.

If Ryan can play well behind Atlanta's O-Line then Henne can play well enough behind ours.

Both rookies are playing well - I don't want to waste next year getting Henne ready to play in the NFL.

7 Loses is rediculous, this is a rebuilding team, a team that should expect 7 loses this season. I dont get y so many people push to put in a rookie QB especially when this time we have a QB that he can learn from and get experience before he is pushed into a game unprepared.

As much as I would love to see what Henne can do I am content with letting him sit this year and learn as much as he can from the most accurate passer in the history of the NFL. God it hurt to say that about Pennington. In any case, I feel we'll be better served if he does some clean up duties and does not get a full start until he beats out Pennington (hopefully next TC). Just my humble opinion of course.

It depends on our definition of playing time. Matt Ryan is the exception and who knows if it'll last with him. Starting a rookie QB is almost always a horrible idea. Now getting Henne "playing time" is another thing. There's no substitute for real world experience. Maybe start by using him in a couple of series a game in the second half of the season. Graduate to working a full quarter, maybe a little more by the end of the season. That should be enough to whet his appetite.

IMO i'd make him start very late in the season... the last three games....

-at home against San francisco,
-AT kansas city the next week and
-finish the season with a road game against the jets ...

that's my opinion, i'd rather stick with that or wait till next year

yeah i think that would work. get his confidence up by letting him flatten bad defenses.

Beck got ruined last year because we had a terrible offensive line, no runningbacks, no wide receivers and no tightends. This year everything is much better except for the WR position.

i agree with you, though. We should no start Henne this year. Let him learn the playbook first, then next year he'll come out firing.

But if we do start Henne this year, we should start him against bad teams like JT-for president said. A good place to start is St Louis, then San Fran, KC and finally new york

That happened a couple of years ago. :(

I'm also curious as to what Henne can do, but I DO NOT want him starting this year.
