Hey everyone. On the Saints board we recently completed a 7-round mock draft. I represented the Dolphins in the draft. Just wanted to share it with you guys and see what you thought about it.

IMO, that's a great draft. I have NO idea how those guys stayed around for each of those picks, but however it happened, please advise Cam/Mueller the secret formula so we could actually get those picks.

I like it... My Dolphins Mock goes like this......

1st(#9): Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
2nd(#40): Sidney Rice WR South Carolina
2nd(#60) Marcus McCauley CB Fresno State
3rd(#71): Marshal Yanda G/T Iowa
4th: Dan Buzuin DE Centralm Michigan
6th(A): Daniel Sepulveda P Baylor
6th(B): Dan Mozes C West Virginia
7th(A): Tony Taylor LB Georgia
7th(B): Mario Henderson T Florida State

Well just a couple points, first on the overall draft, no way San Fran or any team is trading up to #6 to take Ginn when he'll easily be there where they pick so that throws the whole draft off with such a wild pick in the first few. They should have said no trades because fans are always more willing to swap picks then real teams are.

As for your Dolphins picks based on what was available. Brady was a no brainer, Merriweather while a good player isn't a pressing need. in your draft Miami would have tried everything to trade up one spot and get Staley, that is way too low for him. But more reasonable picks the way it fell would be Rice WR, Smith WR, Sears OG or Jackson CB. Gonzo was good value at #60 since you didn't go WR at #40. Patrick might be a bit early but he has great upside. and I'm honestly not familiar enough with the rest of the guys, they seem to address needs for depth.

pretty decent mock, but you should've picked atleast 1 o-lineman in the first 4 rounds

I really wanted to, but the value was always at another position...and always at a position I felt Miami could use help at. With pick 40 I was looking at Kalil, Blalock, Staley...but they all went before my pick. 60 and 71 I got the guys I targeted as they continued to fall. In the 4th I was looking at Samson Satele, but he went a few picks ahead of me. Unfortunately you can't get everything in a single draft. I tried to makeup for a lack of OL by taking 3 guys in the later rounds. All players who can project to multiple positions on the OL.

This draft doesn't address the biggest need we have to fill...offensive line. Check out my sig for my 7 round mock draft. I'm hoping we trade down with Denver to get some extra picks. I wouldn't mind picking Drew Stanton (QB) at #56, as long as I knew Sears (LG) was going to be available at #60. The last two picks can be BAP, I picked OL as we need depth. Let me know what everyone else thinks.

You just have to look at what's available when you pick. I actually could've traded back with Jacksonville and picked up a 2nd round pick. But then you miss out on a franchise quarterback and a major steal at pick 9. Not surprisingly Quinn was the player Jacksonville was trying to move up for. As previously mentioned, Staley and Kalil were both gone by my next pick. Probably the only thing I could've done is taken Sears over Meriweather at 40. But Meriweather is a player I really like. He was consistently the best DB senior bowl week. He can play either safety position and the coaches there seemed to feel he could play corner as well. I think he has a chance to go late first in the real draft. There is also the tradeup possibility, but to do that you have to have a partner. I contacted probably 10 teams about trading up in the 2nd round, but I had no takers. I don't feel the Dolphins are a team that can afford to reach for a need. I'm a big fan of BPA over need after what the Saints have done in recent years. If the Saints drafted for need rather than BPA, you can take Deuce McAllister, Reggie Bush, Jammal Brown and Will Smith off of our team....just to name first round picks.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments/criticism. Keep it coming.

my opinion has changed a lot the past couple days...we need a QB. our Oline isnt as bad as everyone thinks...Alabi i believe will emerge as a good LT...Liwensi/Toledo will compete for LG and either one will be great...Hadnot is a decent Center, Shelton and Carey are a good RG/RT. the only one id draft is Center...and let Hadnot compete for both LG/RG. my new mock would go like so, that is...if Brady Quinn were available at #9.

R1: Brady Quinn.
2a: Sidney Rice WR
2b: Zach Miller TE
R3: Josh Beekman...C/G
R4: Marcus Thomas...DT/NT
6a: Justin Medlock...K
6b: LT
7a: WR
7b: S

saint greg this is the best dolphins mock draft that i've had seen yet...from your writting to god's ears!

Greg, the most glaring need for the Phins without a doubt is O-Line. If we were to pick up Quinn, he would fair no better than David Carr did in Houston.
Oline has got to take precedence on 2 picks within the first four rounds, preferably 2 on the first day...
This is IMO of course....

I understand the need on the OL. First off your front office should be picking up solid players at need positions so you are able to go BPA in the draft. My first question is are the players I drafted not need positions? If they are, but you just feel OL is a bigger need, would you be willing to take lesser players just because they play offensive line? If so, that's not a very good formula for success. Maybe if you were just an offensive lineman or two away from the superbowl, but I think you need to go BPA at a need position which is what I tried to do. You could trade Brady Quinn for Levi Brown.....Brandon Meriweather for Arron Sears.....Ben Patrick for Samson Satele....but long-term your team isn't going to be as good. Unfortunately you can't get everything in a single draft. Tough decisions have to be made.

i wont beat the dead horse on the o-line. I pretty much liek this draft, and feel you represented the Miami Dolphins very well in it. Kudos to you. I might've tired to find soemoen other than gonzalez, cause im not a big fan, but he was defientley the best value left. nick work overall. i do like hwo you mad ethe efforet to make up for the lack of linemen early
