# 7 top most mobile QB, Dan

Thought this was interesting being he was so slow, but after the video he looked like Jerry ditching Tom!:sidelol: Enjoy

Marino had an amazing way of sensing the pressure and taking those 2-3 steps up in the pocket to just avoid the sack and buy time. It's a very under rated skill for a QB and something that he was a master at.

i attributed it to his super quick release, but after seeing that video, and the time he bought himself with his feet when his line allowed somebody through,i can now see his mobility when he needed to be mobile.

He wasnt a "rushing qb" or mobil in that sense. He perfected the art of avoiding the pass rush within the pocket and made guys miss him from inside the pocket

Put him in a funny hat and give him a red cape and he would have been a great matador. I loved watching all the bull rushers come at him only to see him take 1 step to the side at the last second....OLAY!

Excellent post!

Dan was king of the sidestep indeed!

Closest thing to Marino these days is Tom Brady, in terms of sliding in the pocket.

After watching that video it looks like Favre and Brady took some pocket lessons from Dan. And Trent Green should watch it at the :43 second mark to learn how to slide.

He was masterful at feeling the pocket and owning it. How many times did we see him step up into what we thought was a sure sack, when in reality, he was standing in the eye of the hurricane and completed a rope downfield?

I think I just threw up in my mouth. I never want to see those two compared again.

It's a fantastic comparison. Brady is about as slow as Marino was, yet they are both extremely good at avoiding sacks.

You'd be furious with Marino on HBO saying he thinks Brady is the best QB in the league and arguable one of the top 3 of all time, it seems

Haha, I saw this too. NFL.com had a lot of top 10 shows in the archive with a lot of interesting subjects. The "bad weather games" category was interesting and had some games I had never even heard of.

During an interview, they asked him if he could beat anyone on the team in a footrace.

If you are old enough to remember his rookie season,he came in
and started around game 6.Alot of the plays he ran were designed for David Woodley. He didn't take off and run,but there
was alot of roll outs and such.Danny boy,was more nimble than
you would have thought.
