Look at what 700 pounds can do.

From the PalmBeach Post:

At the start of the fourth quarter, Brown had totaled 119 of Miami's 188 total yards - the second-highest total of his 21-game NFL career.

Brown had 127 yards during the Jets' 20-17 victory at Giants Stadium on Sunday and carried the offense until New York opened a 17-point lead and the Dolphins went exclusively to the passing game to reduce the deficit.

Most of Brown's yardage was compiled while running behind the right side of the line and 6-foot-6, 345-pound guard L.J. Shelton and 6-5, 333-pound tackle Vernon Carey.

"That's two big ol' fellas over there,'' Brown said.

i've kind of been wondering all season why shelton was a tackle. The mans an amazing run blocker, hes not so good at pass blocking however. So i don't understand why he hasn't always been a gaurd.

i was going to start a thread on this very subject ... what took them so long to make this move... i know we need olinemen.. but this group that started against the jets.. was really good ... lets not forget this was the New York Jets defense ... but thats the point.. the o-line took advantage... i like what i saw ALOT!!! it is obvious that shelton needed to be covered up inside at guard!!! ... and finally he was moved to RG ... big Mac at this point is better outside... finally a GOOD coaching move... WOW i'm stunned...

I guess this means that MIA doesn't have to pay big money this offseason on OLineman then since they've seemed to have found the right combo?

No sacks and over 100 yards rushing this combo of OLinemen blocked for.

Or maybe all we need now is to draft a new LT and keep MacIntosh as the backup LT.

im all for drafting Joe Thomas, or another big time LT in the draft in the 1st. I think thats the smartest route to go. As for RG, if shelton proves hes a worthy starter, well then that'd be wonderful. Personally, im a little more worried about LG.

Theres still work to be done on the oline. But a good performance by them was nice to see. Specially because the jets front 7 are pretty good.

They played well, I wouldn't mind getting OL in the draft though.

Our OL still has a long way to go, and its too late this season, but we still need to draft 2 really good OL in next years draft, rounds 1 & 2 IMHO. I did like the move of Shelton to RG, the OL did play better yesterday.

Then where were they on 4th & inches, and 3 & 2?

That goes to play calling. Neither play had Brown running it in right behind them.

I wouldn't worry too much about LG. Toledo is supposedly a talent that can replace James...IF need be.

Wow! If we waste both our 1st "and" 2nd round picks on OL then how will we be able to fix WR and CB? Please no more 3rd round WR's or 4th round CB's. We need some 1st round talents.

Not to mention we also need another OLB and another NT.

If we couldn't get a blue chip OL in the first round... and I mean a starting left tackle, then I would be reluctant to draft an OL on day 1. We have toledo, berger and alabi developing in the wings already. What we need to drat on day 1(imo at this point) is ideally:

LT
LB
CB

but if that LT is not there in round 1 then I would go:

WR
LB
CB

just my opinion.

Another feature much appreciated in this contest was the frequent and productive appearance of Darian Barnes. How many single-back formations have we seen this season? Finally having a lead blocker (and a damm good one), Ronnie Brown saw some pretty big holes and took advantage.

if this current unit shows a steady improvement and plays consistantly well for the duration of the season... i wouldn't invest a #1 in another offensive lineman... i would rather fix the skill postions on offense... IMO chambers is more of a #2 than a #1 WR... he is too inconsistant and has too many drops... i would rather have a more consistant player as the teams #1 WR ... the o-line is as it stands right now.. showed in the jets game that it can be good to very good... lets hope that it continues ... i would only change the LG position on the offense at this point .. it looks as if jeno james play has slipped this season... he IMO is the weak link now... keep shelton at RG... the right side of the o-line now looks like what miami use to have on the left side when richmond webb and keith sims played!!! 700 lbs of beef!!!
