Hi everyone. For a research project I'm working on, I'm hoping that someone here can direct me to a link that would have a complete box score for the 1972 regular-season finale that wrapped up the undefeated regular season. I have a box score with score by quarters and scoring plays, but also am looking for one with team and individual stats. Thank you.

Not sure if you mean a game for game breakdown of the 72 season....or just final stats of each player for the 72 season. The Dolphins media guide has alot of info...you may want to check that out.

Yeah, I mean the final game only, the win over Baltimore. And the media guide has only the score by quarters and scoring plays. I need team totals and individual rushing, passing and receiving for that game.

One thing I have run across is an Associated Press account of that game that says Mercury Morris had 85 yards rushing to finish 10 yards short of 1,000 for the season. But Morris officially has 1,000 yards for the regular season.

I attended that game. It was low scoring and uneventful, as I recall, something like 16-0. The crowd was in a hush all afternoon, with the exception of our defensive effort and trying to get Morris the 1000 late in the game. Baltimore seemed determined to prevent it and they really stuffed many of our base running plays.

Morris came up short but a few days later the stats were changed, not of that game necessarily. I think it was a play earlier in the season, another home game. I remember it well. Morrall threw a swing pass to the left that was deflected almost as soon as it left his hand. The ball went backward and Morris fell on it for a 9 or 10 yard loss. I think originally it was called a lateral and therefore Morris was charged with losing yards rushing. The crowd erupted in protest when the play was ruled a lateral because you could tell it was deflected and based on the intended receiver's position it had started forward before being deflected. When they switched that ruling Morris was credited with the lost yards and it put him exactly to 1000, if I remember correctly.

There was plenty of leaguewide ridicule, fans insisting they had "found" the missing 494 yards someone else needed.

Here, I found what you're looking for. This link has stats and box scores of every game. I'll provide the base link. To get to the Colts game, just click on the link listing the score of the game, the 16-0: http://members.aol.com/metzgerdj/72season.htm

On edit: for some reason those box scores are somewhat incomplete. I just noticed Baltimore had 12 receptions but only 8 are credited in the individual listings of receptions.
