Back in 2007 we were bombarded by the media orgasming are the thought of the Patriots going undefeated. Then they choked in the Super Bowl much to our delight.

This year NFL network dedicated shows showing the Colts and Saints run up to 12-0 or whatever. Everyone hops on the undefeated bandwagon and then the team fails, they make it seem like "oh well, who cares." And call the Dolphins grumpy and annoying. I know, it's jealousy.

When it comes to the 1972 Dolphins it seems all they want to do is make up stories. The media and other fans alike try and put down the most unique record in sports. They try to say they had an easy schedule. They seem to forget to mention the Dolphins did it with their BACKUP QB for most of the way. They also had to win the AFC Championship on the road even with the best record, because the system was different back then.

That is why we shove it down people's throats. ESPN/SI/CBS and other moron Fans etc can all claim teams like the 85 Bears and 07 Pats[really?] are better, but we all know the 72 Dolphins are the real deal. Perfect.

Didn't know they had to win the AFC title on the road. Well said man. Perfectville, Population = 1.

in Pittsburgh no less... a warm weather team in Pittsburgh at the end of December and we prevail...

we won every game we had to, no other team can say the same, regardless of schedule or whatever...

Oh yeah. Miami won at home against the Browns, on the road against Pittsburg, and out in L.A. against the Redskins. Miami earned it.

The media does this b/c of how pompous the players from that team have acted. I love this team and its history but the 72 dolphins did this to themselves.

They're not pompous. Mercury Morris is in ways, but most of the people who criticize the 1972 Dolphins would be doing the same thing if they had such a record under their belts. I don't exactly agree with going on TV and insulting teams, but I think each player has the right to have celebratory champagne each time an undefeated team loses, even if the story isn't true. If football was your career and you put your effort into going undefeated, you shouldn't let people call you pompous for celebrating one of the greatest achievements of your life.

I'll always love the 72 Phins. Don't care what the media and haters have to say about it. Until another team does the same, it is one of the most unique and incredible team achievements in sports history.

Did you see Mercury Morris back when the Patriots were making a run at it?

The 72 Dolphins ARE grumpy and annoying. Of course, I blame ESPN for putting these guys on TV and asking their opinions everytime some team/teams get close. ESPN sucks. Anyways, it's not an issue anymore. The geezers got their wish for another year.

The media hates that Mercury Morris, Csonka and Shula drink the champagne and celebrate a very impressive feat....what bothers me is when they start saying that Miami had an easy schedule....the bottom line is we beat every team we played in 1972, including the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game which we had to play in Pittsburgh, even though we had the better record. Screw the Haters. It's great we are still the only team in Perfectville.

What about people who graduate college and frame their diploma(s) on the walls of their house or office. They earn that by putting lots time, money and effort into it so they deserve to flaunt it. Just like they deserve to flaunt their accomplishment that they worked hard for, and are the only pro sports team to have it. And as a Dolphin fan, I love it.

If another team goes undefeated it wouldnt be the end of the world, especially since the Dolphins were the first and can only be the first. But, there's something special when you're the ONLY team that has that in their history. You KNOW if the Patriots did it back in 07, that is all we would ever hear about from Patriots fans and the media. They would be called the greatest team of all time every damn year and they would barely recognize the 72 Phins.

i don't mean to ba a downer, but isn't this the second year in a row that the jets knocked out the last unbeaten team

People who work hard and receive a diploma do not wish that other people never graduate college. I've always felt (and I've stated it on here before) that the 72 phins should treat the undefeated season as an elite club that currently only has one member. They should encourage other teams to join their ranks, not celebrate when their dreams are shattered. Even if they are happen when other teams lose, they could at least just smile to themselves privately instead of making it such a public display. Who says you have to pop the champagne when the cameras are rolling?

The Colts gave them the game. Resting Manning, Wayne, Clark and others meant the Jets had it on a silver platter since the Colts already locked up the #1 playoff spot. You could tell watching Peyton on the sidelines he didn't like it one bit.

They dont actually sit around and pop champagne though and have a celebration when the final team loses though, that's an urban legend. Secretly they probably smile and say "oh well."
