Let's get this out of the way early: if you've come to this thread to bash those of us who love the record, and are just going to say "I hope Indy and NO win out, Mercury sucks, etc." please don't. This thread is for those of us who love the 72 team record and don't ever want to see another team come close to it ever again (except the fins of course).

I'll start things off....

I AM SO FRIGGIN MAD RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! :flames::flames::flames::flames::flames:

Jacksonville how could you blow it?!!!! You had that game won! And another thing, are the refs ****ing paid off or something? How in the hell has Indy managed to have seven games won this season while trailing in the fourth quarter? Are they the luckiest team in NFL history? When is the luck gonna run out? And for god's sakes if it's gonna run out can it please NOT be against the Saints in the SB. I'm so sick of this crap!

I want to see Mercury run his mouth like there's no tomorrow, I want to pop champagne, I want to see the 72 team all over the media talking about how they're the greatest ever...because they are!!!! This season is starting to really piss me off! When are they gonna lose!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: 12/19- COWBOYS WIN!!!! New Orleans is officially imperfect my friends! 1 down 1 to go, get the champagne on ice coach, cause we're gonna party like it's 1972!

I don't care about a team going 16-0 because it's already been done. If they go 19-0, that's a different story.

I don't either, but the sooner the losses occur the easier I'll be able to sleep at night. :D

It would make it one hell of a SB if the Saints and Colts win out straight through the playoffs. I know I'll be watching.

It depresses me, but not nearly as bad as the chance of the Patriots going for it. I hated the thought of them passing the 72 Dolphins. I dislike the Saints, but the Colts are a great organization. If one of the two teams have to do it I hope its the Colts. Honestly though it is better than seeing the Pats do it. I'm still hoping one of them lose a game, but time will tell.

You should be more mad at the Dolphins for blowing a victory vs both those teams.

A better scenario would be Miami beating the undefeated Colts in the AFC championship game and face the undefeated Saints in the Super Bowl...Dolphins WIN!!!

a man can dream can't he?

Look at this way, the only time the '72 Dolphins get mentioned is when some team starts closing in on the record...otherwise it's just a 20 second champagne pop by Chris Berman in the middle of the season.

This would be the most epic story ever in the NFL and would never be topped. Ever...

It would be a great story even if the Fins lost. If someone else is going to unbeaten, you can't really ask for a more fitting way for it to happen.

NFL? I think it would be bigger then the "Miracle on Ice" maybe the biggest sports story ever (as far as America is concerned)

It would be ****ing EPIC. I thought about it for the first time earlier tonight.

Could you imagine.

If the phins win the division(and I think they will), they can certainly dispose of a WC team in Miami in round 1. Then hopefully someone upsets the Bungles(only for this scenerio. Honestly I think we have a better chance to beat Indy on the road than SD) and goes to play Indy while the phins go upset the Chargers in round 2.

This would set it up. The phins go into Indy for the AFC title game and duplicate the week 2 performance, only come through in the end.

Then we go on to face the Saints in the Super Bowl. And again they duplicate the performance from earlier in the season, only this time they come through in the end. And this isnt at all unlikely if we get there. I think the most unlikely parts of this little story are winning that 2nd game against the Bolts, and then beating the Colts on the road.

But, the Saints in the Super Bowl, which WILL BE IN MIAMI, can certainly be done. We could win that. Id ****ing love it. Great story if it goes down that way. Especially when Ricky goes off on them all. **** an A right. Ricky *******. Ricky.

I'd go with the Saints. I still remember the Colts being in our division and hating Jim Harbaugh with a passion.

When you consider that it was Ronnie Brown and the Wildcat that was killing both of them, it becomes a lot less likely.

My anger is a little more directed, I place the Indy loss entirely on Ted Ginn, while I realize he isn't solely responsible, simply making a very catchable TD secures the W for us, but as is quite the usual with the Ginn family he never shows up when we really need him.

The NO loss I put entirely on our D with a small bit of hatred directed towards poor officiating, our Offense was playing lights out football the first half of the game, all we needed to do was hold them, but we somehow managed to blow one of the biggest leads I can remember us having in recent years. Also that officiating was total ****ing bull****, as evidenced in a very VERY clear photo in Sports Illustrated in which the ref is standing right in front of a fumble, that he somehow managed to "not see", which totally shifted the momentum of the game.

Regardless, I actually agree with you 100% If the phins had come through as they should have in those two games, we'd be sitting back enjoying the rest of the season roll out, with our only concern being how to take the division title and not the added burden of wondering if we are about to lose the distinction of being the only perfect team in NFL history.
