what if somewhere down the line the Dolphins were in a similar situation to what the Colts had this year and were on a big winning streak lookng like no one would be able to stop them. how would the 72 team react? would they cheer on the current players or do what they usually do and hope for a loss. wouldnt it seem a little tough to send a case of champagne to a team that beat the Dolphins? just wanted to know what you guys thought!

Obviously they'd cheer for the dolphins. For the only two teams to go undefeated to be in one franchise that'd be incredible, no way they root against them.

it was just out of curiosity. i wasnt saying they would root against them, i would of course hope that they would be classy enough ( and i think they are) to root for the fins, but i was wondering if anyone had a different opinion.

one thing that bothers me about this board is that everyone attacks everyone elses devotion to the team. we're fans, we're all true fans, get over it!

Sorry, I m sure you love the fins as much as me! Lets hope the next undefeated are the future fins!

I think they would like it. They would probably have increased communication with our players too which would be nice.

I remember this exact situation during Marino's great 1984 season when the fins made it to 12-0 and there was all kinds of talk about another undefeated season for the Fins and Shula before losing to Fouts in San Diego in OT the next week, and the Raiders at home the week after (finishing 14-2). Dolphin Digest talked about it every week after they went 8~9-0. Most of the older players from '72 thought it was terrific, probably because Shula was still the coach, and it was before anybody else ever came close. So it was already in the mind-set when, ironically, the Bears (13-0) MNF game was the following year and the '85 team was defending Shula's record. But that was not the first time that the sporting public first learned about the '72 players keeping an eye on who's still undefeated, it was in '84 with Marino and the Fins.

Yeah,I don't see our boys rooting Against our boys.......and just a side not, the whole "champane toast and sending champnane to the victor was blown out of perportion"acording to Shula

I think they would publically cheer for them.

But no one can convince me that anyone, down deep in their soul, wants their records or accomplishments equaled or broken....its human nature and anyone who says different is being disingenious in my opinion.
