Who do you guys think is looking more flat coming into this weeks game?
Dolphins- Have been playing a conservative, possession first offence that lacks the killer instinct needed to put teams away. Defence is playing bend but don't break and really lacking any significant pressure on the quarterback. Neither the offence or defence have truly played like they should since the Denver game and the running game hasn't really clicked since the first pats game and the Chargers game.
Reason for Hope: We have the least turnovers in the league and that means that we're not going to just hand Buffalo the game on a silver platter like they did in the 4th quarter of the first game. If Buffalo wants to win they're going to have to earn it and it WILL be close no matter who wins. I have no problems with our possession offence as long as they pick up the first downs. It's when we run it for no gain on 1st down, throw a 2 yard pass on 2nd down, get a penalty and then put ourselves in a 3rd and long that i begin to shake my head and wish that Henning/Pennington showed a little more aggression
Reason for Concern: Shaky offensive line may mean the running game may not be viable versus the likes of Marcus Stroud. J Peezy getting double teamed and STILL no one else beats their man one on one. Pressure on either Losman or Edwards should disrupt their offence pretty bad but a pass rush has been seriously lacking recently.
Bills- Edwards looked back to his old self against KC but then was injured last week. The defence hasn't been playing too poorly but as a team overall they look flat as roadkill. Losing to the shaky Niners at home in the cold gives Bills fans less reason to think they'll win this week but we all know that anything can happen in divisional games
Reason for Hope: JP Losman- for whatever reason the guy just plays well against us. Took a look back at his highlights and stats from the Arizona game he played in earlier this year when Edwards went down, and that dreaded long bomb to Lee Evans for a TD was right there. The Dolphins secondary has played well recently, but the spread offence NE played made us look just as bad as we were at the beginning of the season. It will be interesting to see what type of offensive attack Buffalo goes with, whether or not JP starts, and if Marshawn Lynch will be able to run it as well as he has been. Should be interesting, and as a side note i honestly think that if Edwards starts we will win.
Reason for Concern: 4th quarter choking. Choked against us in the 4th quarter. Wide right against the Browns in the 4th quarter, and couldn't come up with any points inside the red zone like 2 or 3 times in that final quarter last week. This weakness plays right into the dolphins strength- 4th quarter scoring. The fins have outscored opponents something like 41-26 in the final quarter this season and have been very successful at closing out games (even when doing so gives us all a heart attack most weeks). The defence should play pretty well against us and get some pressure against the patchwork line we now have but i think the game comes down to QB play. We know Chad will play conservative and not turn it over, but how will Edwards or JP play? This is the biggest unknown of the game. If Edwards plays with the type of inconsistency he has shown of late then we should win. If JP plays who knows what we will see. We can only hope we manage to get pressure on him and force him into mistakes.
sorry for rambling, but just pumped for the game!! Any thoughts would be appreciated
