Here is a bit of info from a NFL.com chat with Gil Brandt. In my opinion the guy is a solid analyst. Praises Miami and Jake Grove. Take it for what its worth, just a bit of nice news during a slow time.

Would just like to know what you think about Miami signing C Jake Grove? I have heard both sides of the story so just wondering what you thought of it!

Thanks, Jordan. Grove has improved a lot. The Raiders would have liked to keep him but the price was a little too high. It's a good signing for Miami.

What team do you believe has had the most productive free agency period thus far?

Seattle with Houshmandzadeh, Miami with Jake Grove, Washington with Haynesworth and Derrick Dockery have all helped themselves. But there's no question in my mind the Giants have done the best so far.

Thanks in advance for the Thank YouZ.

Positive words concerning Grove from someone without aqua and orange glasses is encouraging. Good stuff.

Jake Grove looks like a solid center and the final piece in what is likely our starting offensive line for some time. Long, Smiley, Grove, Thomas and Carey seem to be the type of line this regime has wanted. Tough, smart and physical. Hopefully they all remain healthy so we can finally have a really potent running game.

I still have questions about Grove, but I have a lot of respect for Gil Brandt. Gil is one of the few analysts that I trust.

I still wouldnt be surprised if we draft a C/G type and another G (levitre)

Miami is looking more for a G/T type. We have plenty of G/C in Alleman, Satele and Berger. The Dolphins have shown serious interest in " The Monster From the Bayou" Herman Johnson. The kid is being looked at as G/T imagine that boy playing G next to Jake Long.

I'd actually prefer to kick this guy outside to RT and Carey to LG.

That would be a mistake. Johnson looked terrible during Senior Bowl week trying to play RT. Herman "The Monster" is a phone booth type of OG and that is where he will probably be the most effective in the NFL.

Samething was said about Carey and has been awesome for us at Tackle

Carey was described as a better G than T and early on as a Leonard Davis type of player. Its no secret he started his career at G. Anyways we are wasting our breath, I think Herman Johnson can become a bigger better Leonard Davis at RG. My point Miami is coverting the guy as G/T that can add lots of Depth.

I think Herman would be a good choice for a guard/tackle back up. I think he could develop into a very good guard but would only be an average starting tackle.

His negative is that he is extremely tall. Chad Henne is only 6'2.

Vernon has found his position. It is tackle.
