I'm sure most of you have seen the poll on NFL.com asking who has done the most in the offseason to improve themselves in the AFC East...

Now call me a homer but how does the acquisitions of Jay Fiedler and Mike Nugent vs their loss of LaMont Jordan get more votes than us?

We had possibly the greatest improvement in the whole league IMO...Saban, stud draft pick, great draft class, Kevin Carter, Schulters, Tebucky Jones, Houck, Linehan, Ricky's return, O. line upgrades....now to me that is perfection...so how the hell do the Jets get more votes!?

Probably more people in the New York area voting, that's all. Adding Jay Fiedler probably knocked them out of contention right there heh.

they also added ty law, who if healthy makes their secondary very good...

Ty Law? Justin Miller?

I did vote for Miami though.

you all forget, bin laden has more positive popularity than the dolphins do

More Jets fans voted? They also got Coles back for Moss, which is an upgrade, brought in Derrick Blaylock to backup Martin, and now have Ty Law, hired Heimendinger who is a very good OC. For a team that was a kicker away from the Afc Championship, don't kid yourself, they are much improved.

they improved their offense by bringing in Heimerdinger, Chad's arm is rehabilitated (last year he played through pain), so he should be better. They lost Jordan, but he was their backup, so its not like that was a loss. They added Fiedler, which is an upgrade in their backup QB position, but still isn't considered really a position you count when you count "upgrades".

the bottom line was their offensive playcalling and kicking was horrible last year, and their secondary was suspect. They brought in ty law, mike heimerdinger, and nugent... so in essence they really patched up all the holes to give them an honest contention this year.

most of our improvements were in the front office, not in personnel. who did we add this year to make us better? Ronnie? Ricky? thats about it. Frerotte isn't that much of an upgrade, our OL is still crappy, our Defense probably sucks worse now than it did last year.

keep in mind we are in a rebuilding phase - which means we are not yet "most improved'... we have to get there.

so ease off the homer-o's a little and see the truth.

Keep in mind a lot of people in the media a predicting a big year for the Jets. I have a dog in this fight so I am admittedly biased, but I do think the Dolphins had a better offseason.
We're getting a bum wrap here. Does anybody know Al Gore's phone number?

Also a healthy Boston, and a starting RT in McDougle. But you are right....we do still have a long ways to go.

I see your points and I forgot Ty Law but this poll has no bearing on last year whatsoever from how I see it.

And I do feel we did get some great additions. Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holliday are solid on a worn D. Line. Tebucky Jones and Lance Schulters are close to All-Pro when at their best, Ricky Williams speaks for himself, Ronnie Brown is a stud pick-up, David Boston is a former all-pro who has worlds of talent, Stockar McDougle and Frank Middleton are monsters on a weak O. line, I'd take Linehan over Heimerdinger any day, Hudson Houck is the best O. Line coach in the game, don't forget Nick Saban who is really the epitome of waht this poll stands for...improvement on last season, we also got hole fillers like Spragan, Traylor, Frerotte who should be an upgrade from our situation last season, Heath Evans...and you look at what we lost...Jay Williams, Jason Garrett....given we lost some stars too, Pat included but IMO we balanced everything out. If the poll was who is closer to winning the AFC championship, put us last but that wasn't the poll at all.

If that's being a homer, then do'h!

Saban is an unproven rookie NFL head coach, Houck is a good line coach, but McNally and Gibbs are still better, IMO. It's all on paper right now, on paper the teams are improved, but we'll see when the regular season starts. The Bills should get some credit too, they didn't make alot of moves and lost Williams and Jennings, but they'll be better with Losman, and it being Mularkey's 2nd season as head coach, and McGahee will be the starter from game one.

generally jets fans are jobless so they have time to pick up their unemployment checks, pay the internet bill and vote on espn.:rofl3:
