You must give a player 3 seasons before you can truly determine if he is a bust. The bottom line is he was taken too high (he should hav ebeen a late first-rounder,not a top-ten pick. If the old regime wanted him that bad, they would have been better off to trade their ninth overall and move down . It's kind of like John Avery (never should have been a first-rounder). . If Ginn was taken later in the draft, nobody would be talking about him being a bust just yet.

I dont think he is, at least not yet. The problem with Ginn (and guys like Ronnie and others who are drafted high) is the fan base has certain expectations for those players because of their draft status. Few take into account the strength of the draft (like in 05 with Ronnie) or whether or not a player was a reach (such as Ginn). So the player takes the heat even though the organization made the pick. What if Ginn is nothing more than a #2 WR at best? Most probably would still complain about that. But is it his fault he was a reach at #9?

The bottomline is fans can be irrational because they want results (as do I) but at least I can understand realistic expectations for players. Ronnie is never gone live up to a #2 overall pick. What are you gonna do? I'm still fine with him. He was probably the best player available at the time when we picked....so what should we have done? Skipped the pick because no one was truly worthy of the second pick?

If its such a controversal topic that you have seen MANY times....Then why the hell do we need another topic/post about it?

Is that a suggestion for the next poll: "Is this poll a bust, or should we give it more time?"

:sidelol:

Ted Ginn had a nice rookie season. Not great, and not horrible. We are only one week into his second season, so it is not even fair to judge him yet. Sure he only had two receptions in week 1, but he didn't even get his first career reception until week 3 of his rookie year. Way to early to write him off as a bust.

Can people stop saying this already? I mean it's been pretty well established that the Texans and Rams were looking to draft Ginn right after the Dolphins. It's fine to say that you don't think he was a top ten pick but they couldn't have traded down for him.

I peryet sonally think he is great. Give him some more time.

No joke. The guy has already taken four kicks to the house in very limited attempts. We all know those two holding calls last year were poor calls and away from the play. Fact of the matter is if devin hester was the number 9 pick. nobody would be saying a damn word. Well Ginn has already PROVEN that he has that type of return ability. Gil Brandt called him the best return man he has seen in the college game and that includes Devin Hester (and AFTER Hester already cemented his place in the NFL). Ginn hasnt even played his 2nd year yet. would everybody be calling Chad Johnson and all those other receivers that didnt peak till their THIRD year a bust at this point in their careers if they we drafted ninth????? cause ginn has been more productive as a RECEIVER and RETURNER than many of the great ones. Yet how many people here were clamoring for us to give up first round draft picks plus for a guy like Chad Johnson or Boldin. Doesnt make a damn bit of sense.

Ginn HAS and will continue to be a productive player for us. He needs to improve as a receiver which he will. He needs to be returning every ball for us. On this ground alone he cant be considered a bust. This team HAS NEVER in their history had a return man like Ginn. That is a huge weapon that for some reason people overlook. seems to me Desmond Howard won a superbowl for somebody.....yet he was a bust too right? and without Devin Hester the Bears never even sniff superbowl. The fact remains the guy will be a good receiver as well.

Yeah, and if we didn't take Quinn it was noted that our 2nd option was Willis. Well we didn't take either.

You can't believe what everyone says man. You should know that. Ginn would have fallen most likely.

So Ginn is the only one who has had TD'S called back due to holding. Why don't you check the stats on all returners and see how many Td's they would have if there wasn't a penalty then we can compare Ginn to them

I give any WR four years to prove himself one way or the other. I will say I'm not happy with what I've seen so far, but, I think most of his shortcomings are mental, and, can be overcome if he so choses.
