A couple links for TC updates

He's had a full year in an NFL system with an NFL weight room...people do get stronger but I don't think it's a strong arm. He's got an average arm. Pennington could throw 60 yards with his weak arm. It's about timing and accuracy. This system is made for Devlin. I think he'll be on the PS again this year. They'll sign either Moore or Garrard to an extension after this season and let Tannehill battle it out for the starting spot next year with whoever they re-sign and Devlin will be the 3rd stringer.

only reason i say that is cause the offense was pretty much intermediate and underneath passing game at delaware...they never took shots down the field truly over the top vertical

You're right, not with Devlin at least. They did with Flacco.

Do you think if Devlin shows anything in camp, He won't be pouched from the Practice Squad? I'd hate to lose a Potentially Good YOUNG Backup type QB due to an attempt to stash him on the P/S again.
 
Pat Devlin can throw an accurate deep ball, no issues there. They did a fair amount of deep vertical play-action passing at Delaware.

His problem is not even necessarily arm strength (which isn't great) but rather confidence. He doesn't have the confidence in his arm and it shows. He kept everything at Delaware to 16 to 20 yards distance. The big hole in his game were the 25 to 35 yard passes, not necessarily the 45+ yard deep verticals.

He lacked confidence in his arm and it had a habit of showing up in other ways, such as his handling of pass rush. Also showed up in the way he rushed through his reads at times.

But on the positive side, with his accuracy and shot selection, he had that same Marc Bulger uncanny ability to go loooooong stretches without even throwing a single incomplete pass, or at least if the ball did go incomplete it was due to a drop.
