Hey guys....iv'e only posted a couple times....enjoy very much reading posts though...i have a couple questions if anyone know the specifics...

Does anyone know the specifics of when they are suppose to reach an agreement on whether or not to cap the salaries of rookie players in the draft coming into the NFL?? The second question and more important ofcourse...Is this suppose to be settled before the Juniors this year in college are to declare...or do you think it will be decided after this year's draft deadline??? I'm hoping that they do cap rookies...because I think this has always been very detrimental to the NFL and the psyche of the proven NFL veterans out there... would appreciate some info...Thanks!!!

I don't know the answer to either of your question, but I would like to see them do it now. It may force some really good players out and help secure very needed help. I guess same goes for every other team in the league as well. But I would love to see us get more competitive in a hurry.

Im all about the force Quinn into the draft rule!!!

I agree with you...I would love to see a rush of Juniors come out this year...and also would love to see a cap for the drafts from then on...cause it is ridiculous for these playes who have never played an NFL down to make that amount of money...i think your money should be earned...just like respect...but HELL YEAH....Quinn would be nice down here!!!

I can't imagine that it would be feasible to have something in place prior to restructuring the collective bargaining agreement the union and owners have in place. I think that is scheduled to be retooled during next year's off-season.

Yeah I thought that as well.... then when i read the article about Quinn and how he might declare because of the possible settlement it made me think that this was gonna happen sooner...so im not sure....but i agree....i think that first they must settle the players and cap issues..and along with that settlement comes the rookie cap i would think...thanks

First-time contracts ought to be excluded from the salary cap. That way top rookies would still get their grand contracts, but teams won't be burnt salary cap-wise if those rookies turn out to be busts...

Thats definitely a good idea...but let me ask you though....do you think that these players even deserve that amount of money coming into the league?? Don't you agree that it affects the rest of the veteran players who have eraned their salaries...and more than often are making alot less then these high draft picks?? Wouldnt you consider just making a set salary for 1 pick, then a little lower for 2 pick...etc, etc...through the first 10 picks at least...so then money isn't an issue...and i think you will be seeing more veterans holding out less for money reasons also...this is all speculation ofcourse

Nothing would change until the 2008 season, unless a new agreement is put into place before the 2007 season. The current CBA extends through the end of the 2007 season. I'm sure the NFLPA won't allow capping of rookie contracts until they have to.

I would think that the NFLPA is all for capping draft picks...isn't the union more concerned about their current players than the players coming in??? I would think that that logically most players are all for capping rookie salaries...therefore the NFLPA would agree to it to make their players happy...once the rookies have been in the league a year and proven they deserve a big contract...then i don't think players would object to that..it's just one or two years to prove your worth...we all do it in our day to day jobs...i don't see it any different

I read somewhere that the discussions were ongoing. Also that this must be settled prior to the 2007 season b/c that year is uncapped under the current agreement.
