Cameron Wake, the much-heralded, much YouTubed pass-rush specialist out of the Canadian Football League, is getting a cruel lesson in NFL blocking.

Matched against left tackle Andrew Gardner, a rookie sixth-round pick, Wake seems overmatched. Offering precious little leverage and nothing that can be defined as a slippery pass-rush move, Wake is gobbled up by Gardner.

It happens on a pass play where Gardner stands his ground against Wake. And it happens on a couple of running plays to the other side of the formation where Gardner stands up Wake and turns him into a non-factor.

Rookie receiver Patrick Turner, built like a muscle-bound shooting guard at 6-5 and 220 pounds, is coming off the field after having arguably the best practice any rookie receiver has had in these parts in years.

I mean its gonna take time for Mr. Wake, but this should temper the expectations many had when they say "Oh we got Wake, we have the best pass rush in the league with him and JT now". I think Wake can end up being tremendous, but he has gotta learn and be willing to learn.

Anyone mind posting the whole thing? I don't want to have to sign up to see it

And I'm sure Cam Wake will figure it out, this is the furthest he has EVER been in the NFL. So he's no more experienced than a rookie, really. Just gonna take a little time.

One play no one has mentioned is Vontae Davis running step for step with Ginn on a deep route. Heard it from his presser.

I know Davis was the fastest corner in the draft, but to go step for step with world class speed like Ginn has is impressive.. And when you add his build, the fact that he looks like a bodybuilder running like that, you can see why most boards easily had him in the top 15 prospects for the draft.

It's in this article:

Rookie first-round pick Vontae Davis, meanwhile, helps his cause by running stride for stride with Ginn on a deep pass that ultimately falls incomplete.

``I was surprised,'' Davis said when asked about being able to shadow the speedy, more experienced Ginn.
But Ginn runs a 40-yard dash 4.3 seconds, among the best in the NFL?
``Yeah, I know,'' Davis repeats. ``I was surprised.''

Vontae has been clocked in the 4.3's also, and yea he physically is a BEAST. Seriously, its gonna be like Surtain and Madison with him and Smith. These 2 are gonna be special.

You know, I wonder if Vontae got EVEN faster after working out under this regime.. I mean, running stride for stride with Ginn is no joke at all.

Man.. I know Smith is probably going to be awesome as well, but man, I can't stop giving Vontae praises. He's the exact corner I've been wishing we had for years every since Madison left us. By that I mean a big, strong, fast corner that will get in your face.

Thinking about it..Smith seems more like the playmaking CB..but Vontae seems like the shutdown type..Smith-Cromartie,Vontae-Aso.in terms of style of play

Good report, hope Wake catches on to the Pro game, I'd like to see him be a force while on the phins team.. I'd love to have 3 dangerous pass rushers on the field at the same times in some sets..
