Ok here me out. Think about it. Perhaps we should do this instead...

1) Get Derrick Johnson (even if it means pickin him@#2)

Y? Because our linebackers are geting older and slower. Zack T. and Junior S. are likely to miss some key games because of injuries. Getting a guy like Derrick Johnson (with the addition of the new guys on the D-line) should make him an impact player for the team from the start... or at least give us some dept/flexibility. We were not good at all last year in stopping the run.

Remember Sammy Morris is no slouch. Lamar Gorden is at least a decent back up. Assuming the O-line should play better. We may not need a great back like Ronnie Brown to help the offense.

2) Get a good running back, cheaper in the draft... to still give us a real threat for big plays.

How bout picking a back like Eric Shelton from Louisville?!?! He is bigger than Ronnie Brown, heavier, as strong, as smart, and... faster than C. Benson! Look at draftboardinsider for official running back stats

Couldn't he be enough to help A.J. Feeley play action pass for some big plays? Couldn't he make those all important short yards? Couldn't a player like that also do wonders to help our defense rest?

Dont forget we may lose Patrick Surtain.

With old linebackers... we may need extra help for the D more if we lose Surtain!

Defense wins games. Pure and simple. Just ask that guy Peyton Manning... and his fancy Colts offense (with a million dollar running back) he couldnt get them even close to beating N.E.

What do you think?

#2 is to high to take DJ imo, if we trade down I wouldnt mind getting him but if we stay at 2 no thanks. And we have had a really good defense for years and not won a super bowl, I dont care what anyone says, you need a good offense to help out that defense.

Unless you are Baltimore....

If we trade down, I would be more inclined to go with Merriman or DJ but if we stay at the 2nd pick, I definitely would take ronnie brown. I do not believe the other players rate the #2 pick.

But Baltimore did had a running game, atleast.

My whole point is that the D still needs to get better. If we lose Surtain, thats bad enough... but considering the D's inability to stop the run last year...

shouldn't it be a priority to draft D guys?!

I hate it... lol

I don't like Edwards... would rather Fason than Arrington... and if McPherson goes at #66, we aint gna get him at #70 :D
