I like most of you was disgusted with todays game. On the other hand, a few hours have passed and cooler heads have prevailed. I am not ready to throw in the towel and chalk this up as another losing season.....What I want to do is focus on some of the positives. I dont have the exact numbers but today we did an amazing job of stoping the run on against a great running team. Not only that, was very impressed with P Merling. I am a huge homer, but other than the play against the Jets last year, he until this point had done nothing that had really impressed me. I dont know, I just wanted to say something positive. Any one else wana share some positives?

our run d was sick today, but i felt like we werent getting too much pressure on m.ryan, so he was picking us apart in the secondary. our oline was having a hard time giving penny time though...lets hope next week goes A LOT better.

Matt had pressure in his face all day. Joey Porter wanted to stop the run and make Ryan beat you --- and he did.

Run D was good and a player that stood our was Merling. Other than that I did not see any positives (Unfortunately).

The Dolphins defense did sack Ryan twice (Taylor and Merling) and also pressured him a handful of other times, forcing incompletions and throw-aways.

It would have been nice to generate a few turnovers, but all in all, Miami's defense played fairly well considering that they were on the road against a potent Falcons offense.

It was Miami's offense and special teams that doomed them on Sunday.

I'm very excited about our run defense. I think the pass defense will improve when Sean Smith and Vontae Davis get adjusted to the game (maybe Gibril Wilson can find a way to defend a pass too)

Offensive line needs to improve. Play calling desperately needs to improve.

Merling did look good. The defense as a whole played well. The horrific offense put them in constant pressure. Ricky looked good.Pentington had a very bad game Fasano was horrible, I do not think that will be the norm.

Thought the defense did a good job today. Doesn't exactly make it easy on them when the offense turns it over 4 times and the Falcons started all there drives at mid-field. The offense is to blame for our struggles today, not the D.

That said it's week 1 and we lost to an NFC team. Remember we started the last year off 0-2 and got obliterated by the Cards.

3 or our 5 top Dbs are new and have not developed the chemistry they'll have come December. They could have done a whole lot worse against a dome team with 2 future firs ballot HOFers in Gonzalez and Matt Ryan.

Forgot to mention that our SP coverage was not horrible.

Philip Merling suprised me.. with his all around play!!! i also Vontae Davis make a nice play against the run... and the defense overall did what it could do to keep the team in the game... unfortunately it could have been alot worse if Ryan didn't miss fire a few times early... remember the law of averages... and as well as the team protected the ball last season, my fear came to life on sunday with 4 tournovers by the offense... i hope this season isn't about the inability to protect the ball ... god i hope this offense somehow turns it around in week #2 against the Colts!!! this unit as a whole stunk up the stadium on sunday...

Turnovers kill. Thats all this game can be chalked up to. Once we moved the ball with some authority and then that happens time and again, it deflates you.

The biggest positive?

Non-conference game.

Want another positive? Anthony Gonzalez is out and manning put up only 14 points against a terrible yet tough interdivisional team.

Character will show we bounce back on MNF. Fasano has some ground to make up and Long needs to get his head out of his ***.

We now know that Greg Camarillo can catch the ball with just his legs. That's a positive. I can't remember ever seeing that happen. That catch should be on all the highlight reels by ESPN this week. :)

Also loved seeing Ginn being over-thrown. I know ppl question the White pick, and the play calling... but if that had conected, could you imagine the headaches that play would have given opposing D coaches in the future.
