Just a few things for Phans to think about.

What if he doesn't want Grimes and wants to get younger, bigger and more physical?

What if he doesn't want to keep Starks and Soliai, and wants to go younger and cheaper?

What if he doesn't care for our QB, and does not believe RT to be the answer?

What if he believes we are not gonna contend for a couple of years?

Does he override Philbin or, does he have to agree with what Philbin wants to do before being hired?

Just some food for thought.

That's a lot of what If's. I think any GM will have a plan of action but anyone worth a crap won't gut a team year 1, especially a QB that's performing at a fairly high level in his sophmore year.

Regardless, that's what you get. Grimes was in all reality the best DB we have, doubt if he would want to cut ties unless he wants a kings ransom.

Keeping Starks and big Paul is another conundrum...that's what we are paying the man for so we have to roll with it. Got to believe his goal would to be to get better against the run so hopefully playmakers come along with that philosophy.

Interesting thoughts
1. I have no objections. As long as he gets a player that is as good or better than grimes
2. I have no objections. As long as he fills those gaps appropriately (no pun intended)
3. Regardless of what he may think, Tannehill will get a third year no matter what anyone says or wants. cough cough WV
4. He better fix those beliefs then
5. Just do whatever it takes to get more W's. Nothing else no excuses

What if he doesn't want Grimes and wants to get younger, bigger and more physical? Then that GM is talent blind.

What if he doesn't want to keep Starks and Soliai, and wants to go younger and cheaper? Couldn't blame him... so long as he addressed the position adequately and found a suitable replacement.

What if he doesn't care for our QB, and does not believe RT to be the answer? IMO without dumping Phailbin there's no way a new GM could draft a QB high. That would immediately be a break on his relationship with Phailbin.

What if he believes we are not gonna contend for a couple of years? Phialbin is in a make or break year same as above.

Does he override Philbin or, does he have to agree with what Philbin wants to do before being hired?I think Ross wouldn't keep Phailbin and then set him up to fail... but then again... who knows.

Just some food for thought.

My opinon.

That brings up another point. There are only 32 jobs in the world for a GM and OC. In Miami, we want the best to come in to an owner who has no clue as to what he's doing, and want them both to fit in with Philbin and his system, regardless if they agree with it.

IMO, that severely limits who wants to take these jobs, in spite of how many agree to an interview. We shall see.

All the names being thrown around match the WCO both at OC and GM. Theoretically, it be just the individuals they would have to "like".

True but I'm thinking that if I'm a potential GM candidate, is this what I really want to get into with Philbin having control, to some degree.

I think the Miami situation isn't ideal and will make some potential GM hires weary. I do believe they will ask what they need to make them see the spot as a viable career move during interviews and will bail if they don't like what they hear.

Anyone know if the new GM will have final say on personnel or, is that on Philbin?

Awww come on each and every HC has some power to them in personnel decisions... the whole point is whether the HC and GM can work together ya know? If either wants to hijack the other we all turn out losers including themselves...

The only power Philbin might posses that makes me uncomfortable is the power to manipulate Aponte and Ross into hiring someone no qualified enough... so he can in turn manipulate him too.

No GM is taking this job unless Tannehill is his franchise quarterback.

According to Ross GM will but they will both report directly to him so that's subject to soaps and manipulation like we just witnessed previously with the firings... and might again with the hirings.

Wonderful. So if Philbin and a new GM disagree, it's left up to Ross. And we wonder why the best options don't want to come here. LMAO!!!

Its still better than reporting to Chokie Smith in TB...
