Though it would likely never happen, suppose we were in this same position, picking #2 overall, with Saban as our coach, BUT, Ricky was still running strong like the Pro Bowl back that he was.

WHO DO WE PICK? (assuming the rest of the team is as is)

I would say we would go defense, probably Rolle. Maybe Edwards?

What do you think?

I too would go with Edwards or Williams in that case, or trade down for 2 #1s with SD maybe and get Rolle (either by falling or trading back up a few) and a D-Linemen or LB or WR in clayton, williamson, etc etc. Or if not rolle then the BPA out of LB/D-Line/WR and then Pac Man Jones with the second pck in round 1.

I think I'd take Alex Smith. Smith will need a year holding the clipboard anyway, so why not let him do that while AJ auditions for Saban. If AJ turns out to be as good as many of us think he can be, then we have excellent trade possibilities. If not, Alex would be ready to take over in 2006.
