Todd Bowles, assistant head coach DBs, Miami: Received interviews in Detroit and Denver last year after the success of the Dolphins. Not yet on the radar, but it’s not uncommon for a coach to get a job the year after he’s hot.

Leslie Frazier, defensive coordinator, Minnesota: A Bob LaMonte client who should be the most in-demand minority candidate after near misses at several places last year before joining LaMonte. The Vikings’ dominance up front helps him. He could be a candidate in Cleveland.

Jerry Gray, DBs, Washington, former Buffalo coordinator: Interviewed in Washington and could figure in Buffalo.

Winston Moss, assistant head coach, LBs, Green Bay: Former Raiders standout interviewed there and St. Louis last year and was impressive. He may figure in Oakland again.

Ron Rivera, defensive coordinator, San Diego: Comes from the Andy Reid stable and has long been a contender for head coaching jobs. Has never interviewed well, but success with the Chargers doesn’t hurt.

Gregg Williams, defensive coordinator, New Orleans: Has prior head coaching experience and led a tremendous turnaround.

Big ? is who fits with what were trying to do though

I think Pepper Johnson should be on the list too.

I'm from Mass and since the Pat's D-Coordinator has stepped down they have been talking about replacements, and Pepper Johnson isn't even being considered there. He is widely know as a good "rah-rah" on the sidelines guy but not much of an X's and O's guy

Why would guys leave their respective teams when they are already defensive co-ordinators, let alone be allowed to talk to us unless their contract has been completed!

Obviously not everyone feels that way:

He (Pepper) also is a brilliant defensive mind, according to those who know him, and his presence and winning background would certainly get the attention of the Giants' deflated defensive players.

Here is another article that mentions Pepper, but not as favorable as it mentions another guy, Matt Patricia, sounds interesting. Any word on him? Would he be a good fit for the Fins? I never heard of him til I saw this article. I like the idea of taking a coach away from the Pats as well, strengthens us and weakens a them.

i have always liked RON RIVERA.

i would not mind him getting our DC job at all.

not only because he has proven to be a good assistant coach, but
it doesnt appear as he will be landing any head coaching jobs any
time soon. and thats fine with me because we need a guy, if he is
successful here, to stay around a while. nothing worse than having
a coach do well and get things going and then a year or two later
he is gone for a hc or other gig.

some guys just dont need to be the face of the franchise and that
is what a HC is. it seems to be a running issue with rivera, he
doesnt interview well. and many assistant coaches dont. but, they
are still GREAT behind the scenes position coaches or coordinators.

who knows why his interviews are not well recieved, but they appear to
not be, for whatever reason. but his units have been real good without
stars across the board.

he would command instant respect here with the guys coming from a
playoff contending team and being a former stand out nfl player.

GREGG WILLIAMS would be great, but why would he leave a powerhouse
team like the saints to just make a latteral move to a much lesser team?

we cant tack on the assistant hc title because it was given to bowles as
a perk to get him from dallas. [to bad we couldnt have thrown that in to
the butler deal].

THERE ARE some real great candidates out there on other teams. if the finz
hire bowles on monday with a "we were out of time and our other choices
fell through" explanation, it will be hogwash. a real dissapointment.

hey, coaching the senior bowl players is a good heads up for any staff. but
only two clubs a year get that priveledge. all but two teams every year
dont have that leg up and they draft just fine from interviews, combine,
tape, and the senior bowl game itself.

not having a dc in place by the senior bowl is NOT an acceptable excuse
for rushing in bowles.

Dick Jauron is my choice now that Butler is out.
