a last thought on saban

I commend you on your service to the country but an employment contract is NOT the same as a contract with the military. If anything I think you should see this more then people who have not served, including me. There are huge public policies on restricting members of the armed forces from breaking their commitments. National defense being the primary 800 lb gorilla public policy.

Those same policies do not exist in private employment, and an employment contract is usually at will. Meaning the employee can leave at any time and the employer can fire them at any time. Any other way would be considered involuntary servitude and not allowed. Now I haven't seen the contract so I can't comment on the fact if it was a breach or not. There can be breaches but then damages are awarded. Involuntary servitude is not.

Huizenga in his discretion could fire Saban at any time. Why can't Saban leave at any time? Now the manner in which Saban left, i.e. misleading everyone, that's a different matter and a legitimate beef.

Presumably Nick Saban won't get paid for anything other than the coaching he did in Miami, would he? I mean, leaving one job to go to another one surely means his contract is void from them on, doesn't it? I've got to admit, if I was offered a better paid job for more money somewhere I would rather live, I would take it too.

The whole key is the Alabama deal is also GARUNTEED 8 YEARS 32 MILLION !!!! Saban could of been fired in Miami next year if he didn't turn things around. I hate to say it too, but i would have left as well, and when Saban makes Alabama a national champ, everyone but Dolphin fans will say it was the best move of his carreer. This also could be a blessing in disguise, Sabans heart wasn't in it, and he leaves behind exactly what he left, a mediocre team. I say let Capers coach the team, bring in a good OC. and show the rest of the NFL, what a healthy Daunte has left, a drug free Ricky, youth in the secondary, and a grudge to restore the pride that Miami Dolphin football has meant all my life.

Would anyone not take it? If anyone could actually be honest with themselves, if they were offered a guaranteed contract that would ensure the livelyhood of them and their children for many lifetimes, and the job happened to be something that was more enjoyable in a place their family wanted to live.

Give the man a break. He did what was in his best interests and everyone here would do the same if they were given the opportunity. Just because he coached for your beloved team didn't make him any less human.

Well since your so mad. you can leave a nice review for nick's book on amazon. I see 2 people have done it already

To read some of the posts doing the rounds at the moment, you would think it was as if Nick Saban had been everybody's best friend and had just been discovered cheating with all their wives/girlfriends etc. I'm not surprised to see such a vigorous slating of Nick Saban now though. It's what you would expect.
