Wheeler was ripped to shreds last year, and justifiably so to a degree. Since moving back to the strong side this season, he is a different player. Due to injury, he has played 110 snaps, and has done very well. He has 15 tackles, 2 assists, 10 stops, and ZERO missed tackles (no typo). In coverage, he allowed 4 of 7 complete for 32 yards. His NFL QB rating given up is 68 which is VG.

To compare, he is playing around the same as Jenkins with 235 snaps, 28 tackles, 6 assists, 2 stops, and 2 missed tackles. In coverage, Jenkins gives up a 77 QB rating.

Anyone changing their opinion of him?

He is playing a lot better.. Its not about changing opnions. Its about not missing tackles and staying with tight ends... He is doing that this year. He looks better and more comfy out there

He has 1 game with zero missed tackles huh. Well if he can maintain that for the rest of the year and take a paycut, I think we may be ready to reconcile. It would be nice to get some good play out of him, we really need it.

He could be very important against GB, closing down Rodgers when he breaks the pocket. Whatever about his tackling, his blitzing and spying of the QB is a strong suit.

not going to change my opinion on him. he didn't play bad at the beginning of the year last year ether. he has a lot of proving to do in order for me to change my mind

Not true. Last year he got killed in coverage and gave up a QB rating of over 120. He also had 6 missed tackles, although in one game. He's only played in 3 games, including only about a third in one but, is playing much better on the strong side, where he belongs. Ireland made a big mistake in thinking he could play the weak side.

He does bring a lot of pressure but, has problems in turning the pressure into sacks. Coyle has only brought him on the rush 10 times so far. Think that will change vs GB. He has been playing with that injured hand as well.

I'm not so worried about him getting sacks against Rodgers as forcing him to throw. We really don't want Rodgers sitting back there with time on his hands. He evades a collapsing pocket (a Miami trademark) very well and we'll need hats assigned to corral him, imo.

that's about 2 and a partial game. 100+ snaps.

Yeah, that's what he played. Not a huge sampling but, he does look much better after the move "back to where he once belonged." Now, if Misi can come in and do what I hope for, we will be pretty good at LB.

Looks much better on the Strong Side. Good strength at the POA and quickness to pass rush or go into coverage. Jenkins, Misi, Wheeler can get us through the season barring anymore injuries.

A little bit changed opinion yes. I think a lot of it has to do with him moving back to his original spot. Puts everyone in a better situation.. Missing all 3 starting linebackers (except for Jenkins stepping up which is great) really makes you appreciate players like Wheeler

IF Wheeler continues to play well, his salary drops $2M next year to $2.9, with a reduced cap hit to $4.4M. Not a bad number for a starter, and we only save 200 bucks if traded or cut.

So in other words.

Wheeler went a game without headbutting a QB on 3rd and 15 and during a critical point the game?

:idk:
