Slightly different take than what has appeared in another article:
"Why did Rod Wright slide to the seventh round of the NFL Draft? Tracy Lartigue, Wright’s agent, said the defensive tackle has a torn right rotator cuff, and played with the injury his senior season. Lartigue said Wright plans to undergo surgery in the next two weeks."

That doesn"t sound like someone who is surprised that he has an injury. May not see him for awhile.

well he said it himself he didnt know he had a injury so that article about him having surgery in a couple weeks CANT be true

How long will he be out for you think?

He played the season with the injury and waited until now (2 weeks from now) to have the surgery? I guess he was hoping nobody would find out about it until after the draft. Maybe really bad advice from his agent.

Maybe but since that was his agent being quoted, probably not a bad source.

A good while I imagine, even so Wright's not a baseball pitcher, a torn right rotator cuff is still a pretty bad injury.

Thats not what I call top notch sources a 4 line blog is worth has much has a PFT rumor

Saban just said in his press conference that he may be able to play this year, but it will porbably be wise to just put him on IR and let him rest for the season. Next season he should be healthy and ready to go. Saban also said that he could probably play this year and take care of it later, but he doesn't want to risk Wright doing more damage to it.

I think most Horn's fans will tell you that the Austin American Statesman blog is a VERY good source for Horn's info.

Well that answers that. I still like the pick in the 7th even if he can"t play this year.

So if he has this surgery he probably wont be ready for training camp! However, for the future this may end up being by far the biggest steal of the draft. This is an all-american with first round talent. Even if he does not play until mid season or whatever, it does not limite his future potential. I am now very excited about this pick. I had been following Wright for a while and belive he can be a star in this league.

By the way, after the 1st round, no one could have logically placed the players we got where we got them. If I saw who we got before hand, I would have figured we got Hagan in the 3rd, Wright in the 4th, made a trade to move up and get Aromashadu, and got a steal when Toledo fell to the 7th round. That means we got good value. Plus you never know about this Fred Evans guy.

I won't be convinced of Wright's injury until he recieves a second and possibly third opinion.

RTC repair - no problem for this guy

depending on the size of the tear - it'll take about 4-6 wks for the repair to take. and he should have full motion by 8 wks. then it wil take a bit to get his rtc strength and scap stabilization back. He should be ready for pre-season.
