What would you think of a longer NFL season? compared to the 17 weeks of todays season. Maybe add 2 or 3 weeks.

As a fan I'd love it, but it would be so much tougher for players to stay healthy and I fear it would severely shorten most players careers.

What if we just compromised the complexity, integrity, and tradition of the game as well?

That is true unless they did it where maybe there was a break of say 2 weeks somewhere maybe even twice... :D Shorten the preseason to 2 games and put a 2 week space at the end of the preseason then another one after week 10 (the new halfway point)...

Yeah!! Make it a twenty game schedule!! :dolphins:

:yeahthat:

as a fan i agree it would be great to watch more football but it would never happen..i just think some of us go crazy when no football is on (including myself) that we make up the thought of a longer season which if it were introduced to the players most would probably have a heart attack playing that long of a season...also most teams that are eliminated from playoff contention are officially eliminated around weeks 12-14 so making the season longer could negatively effect those teams and thier income..glad though that we shouldnt have to worry about something like that this year!

Too many games is what has ruined pro baseball, basketball, and practically every american sport other than football. When you add more games, it just makes each game worth less and less. Don't mess with it!

yeah...........because going from 14 to 16 games did all of that. :shakeno:

While I love the idea of seeing the Dolphins more each year, I think that everyone else (at least those who didn't completely overreact to the idea) are right....it's probably best just left as it is.

Of coarse, as Nick Saban said....hopefully 2005 was the last 16-game season for the Dolphins!!!! :dolphins:

I sure hope so.

Before we prolong football, lets shorten a few things like baseball down to about 60 games maybe even 40 baseball blows

for starters no, records would mean nothing aka more backs over 1000 yards stats would take a few years to figure out the new standards/benchmarks in terms of yardage,

All of the above. (Including the "shorten baseball" part)

I think the preseason should be shortened by 2 weeks and add them to the regular season...That's doable and changes none of the complexity, integrity, and tradition of the game, Unless of course you love losing players in a preseason game for the entire season for absolutly nothing..:rolleyes2
