A top 5 defense in 2006, the Miami Dolphins have just made a huge signing in the form of Joey Porter. The defense looks to line up like this as of now.

matt roth
NT-(possibly branch via draft, or evans, wright)
vonnie holliday

Jason Taylor
Channing Crowder
Zach Thomas
Joey Porter

Will Allen
Travis Daniels/draft pick (3rd round pick or late 2nd)
Yeremiah Bell
Jason Allen

It doesnt even matter how mediocre are secondary is or our whole at NT. Clearly, our front office is moving in the right direction. I know our offense has some serious problems but whose to stop our D? Right now this is arguably the best linebacking group ever!!! Three Probowlers and one youngster on the rise. With our stockpiled picks i believe we can adress some of our oline problems as well as a DB,WR, and CB. We use our first 4 picks on those positions and surprisingly we have a very very solid team.

I know i shouldnt say this and will get grieve...but if culpepper gets hurt and lemon comes in and plays up to par- we have a legit shot of making the playoffs. No joke. We get some young draft picks on the left side of our line and Cam works his magic with the pieces we have on O we can actually have a very successful team. Thats what we got Cam for to work on our O. Just having him is an upgrade over our offense last year. I even think its possible we trade down in the first and get greg olsen who would be a beast at TE.

All i know is this filled a major need and the fact hes a probowler and 29(turns 30 this month) we have 3 seasons of great play left at LEAST

GO FINSSS

Renaldo Hill is a very good player as well.....

I don't see how Allen sends him to the bench.

Agreed on Hill, but I think Allen just has too much talent to leave on the bench. Unless we move him to SS and have hill as the FS. Ideally, Landry and Allen sound like a match made in heaven back there, but I don't wanna tweak this secondary anymore, I think we got our starters and they have experience in the system.

We have Bell at SS who I think is better than both Hill and Allen (at this point)..I wouldnt mind seeing Allen get some reps at corer to see how he would do there

With this defense, and both R&R running the ball on offense, I see us as playing better offensively than the 2006 Bears and hoping to have as good a defense as they had with our great LB corps and good Dline.

I'm excited.

If the worst draft day scenario unfolds and let's say that Ginn, and Quinn don't drop to us...Leon Hall will most likely be there....

Yes I know Bell is at SS, and yes he is a playmaker. I don't know tho, for some reason I'm not sure about him as a starter. I like him off the bench in a dime package and on special teams. He doesn't have great speed, and is below average in coverage. He reminds me of Lance Schulters or a poor mans Sammy Knight. If we got Landry I wouldn't weep a bit about sending Bell to the bench. I like him, but not as our starting SS.

Allen has physical gifts that can't be ignored, I hope he comes around this year and proves he has game. Before his injury he was considered the top safety prospect in the country, even above Michael Huff, so we gonna see.

every thing you just mentiond is all what i was gonna post next exept id like to see mike doss come in and take the ss position and let j allen play fs draft a corner in the second round n let the secondary coach decide because he knows what hes doing he had our secondary good until saban came in and messed around with our corners heads now they suck so let him coach them because he is one of the best secondary coaches in the nfl

yea but rem the rumor of talks btw hill to panthers. JA wont be on the bench with all that talent. either CB or S he is a starter next year.

hill i doubts on the roster esp with all these S we are lookin at in FA.

Exactly, I have heard Hill is gone as well, which opens the door for Jason Allen @ FS. I think its silly to think he is not starting this season. Saban messed with this kid, he will be ready to go this year.

Dont take this the wrong way and you have the right to your opinion, but I think your facts are off base with Bell. First, he came out of college running around a 4.37 40. He has very good speed for a safety. Second, he is good in man coverage. Zone coverage you may have an argument. Third, he is no where near like sammy knight. Sammy knight was a slow safety who hit like a ton of bricks. Bell is fast, but often get knocked backwards, although I like the way he sticks his head in there. With that being said I wouldnt weep either about sending Bell to the bench if we get better safeties. I do like Bell better than Hill though but just my IMO.
