IMO I wasn't a fan of the idea to franchise tag OV I'm sorry he is not worth the 15.7 million. I was hoping we could re-sign him to a reasonable contract.

Here is what I noticed last year & it's in the stats as well. I understand according to PFF he led in QB hurries which is impressive. Keep in mind Wake had 7 sacks in 7 games.

- First sack of season was not until week 6
- he had 8 total tackles (including assists) the first 6 games
- had 1 sack total last 4 games
- 0 FORCED fumbles
- 2.5 sacks in 1 game so 5 sacks total in 15 games
- went from 11.5 sacks to 6.5 & 7.5 sacks the last 2 seasons

Props to him for playing better once Cam went down but the consistency is an issue. Im just not sure he makes the impact plays needed to JUSTIFY a $15 million deal. Again I like him but with our cap situation not sure over paying him makes the most sense.

What bothers me the most about transition tag is we can't use the $12 million to sign other FA out of the gate b/c I'm sure like the Bills did last year with Clay (I like Clay but that was a win for us) the other team will take its time & we can't use that money.

I apologize if some feel this should have been in the OV transition tag thread.

To me he isn't worth the transition tag either but that's past....What the heck happen to tendering guys?

If he was restricted, then he could be tendered a "fixed" amount, per say. But if you have 4 years of NFL experience (Vernon does), he is eligible to hit the open market as a restricted free agent. For example, C.J. Anderson is scheduled to become a free agent, but he has only 3 years of experience,as he was undrafted and signed a 3 year contract, so he is scheduled to become a restricted F/A and can be tendered at the 1st round level, 2nd round level, or original right of first refusal level (undrafted).

Vernon makes plenty of impact plays... they're listed under Personal Fouls and are a big help to the opponent! He is NOT worth the money he wants, and is not worth what the Transition Tag is paying him.

I couldn't agree more...just not 15 million dollar player in my eyes...

Him and Wake are above average pass rushers but average at best against the run IMO. I don'tr have stats, just my eyes.

I will have no issue with him signing somewhere else... Let someone else damage their cap with overpaying him...
