Well, it's Thursday and tere's not much else to talk about, so how about we look at some of the schedules for AFC teams? I will bold the games I think the teams will win.

AFC East:
Pats - 5-3 - BUF, NYJ, MIA, PIT, SEA, OAK, ARI, BUF - final record 10-6
Bills - 5-3 - NE, CLE, KC, SF, MIA, NYJ, DEN, NE - final record 10-6
Jets - 5-3 - STL, NE, TEN, DEN, SF, BUF, SEA, MIA - final record 10-6
Fins - 4-4 - SEA, OAK, NE, STL, BUF, SF, KC, NYJ - final record 10-6

AFC North:
PIT - 6-2 - IND, SD, CIN, NE, DAL, BAL, TEN, CLE - final record 12-4
BAL - 5-3 - HOU, NYG, PHI, CIN, WAS, PIT, DAL, JAC - final record 10-6

AFC South:
TEN - doesn't matter - division winners unless they fall on their face for the next 8 weeks.
IND - 4-4 - PIT, HOU, SD, CLE, CIN, DET, JAC, TEN - final record 10-6
HOU - 3-5 - BAL, IND, CLE, JAC, GB, TEN, OAK, CHI - final record 7-9

AFC West:
DEN - 4-4 - CLE, ATL, OAK, NYJ, KC, CAR, BUF, SD - final record 8-8
SD - 3-5 - KC, PIT, IND, ATL, OAK, KC, TB, DEN - final record 7-9

So there you have it. Some might say I'm being too optimistic, but I don't think so. Hell, I gave Baltimore wins against the Texans and Cowboys(who will have Romo back by then). I also gave the Colts wins against the Texans and the Jags. I gave us a win against the Rams, but I also gave the Jets that win and a win against Denver and us.

It's going to be damn close if this all happens. It probably won't....I don't think there's EVER been 5 teams at 10-6 fighting for wild cards, which would be the case with the Colts, Ravens, and 3 teams from the East.

I'll be cheering for the Texans for the next 2 weeks though! I think they have a reall possibility of beating the Ravens and the Colts. No way they beat GB or TEN, so they won't be better than 9-7.

And please.....if you disapprove of optimism and think it's the worst thing in the world....refrain from posting. I don't need people telling me to take it one game at a time. I'm not a player, I'm a fan and with that comes the luxury of looking further than this Sunday.

Wow, that would be quite a log-jam. Correct me if I'm wrong, but looks like us, Jets, and Pats would all end up 3-3 in the division??

Good post. A few comments:

No way they beat GB or TEN, so they won't be better than 9-7.

This is the NFL. To say that "no way" that a decent team in the Texans beats a decent team in the Packers is a little exaggerated.

Thank you! I hate when people around here frown upon looking past the game at hand. This will not affect the team as it could if the players or coaches were doing it.

If all that happened, I think we would finish ahead of the Pats and Bills, behind the Jets and Ravens, trying to calculate the tie-breakers in my head. We would get the 2nd Wild Card spot.

All of the remaining games are winnable. We have 5 of the very worst teams in the NFL left. Also, Pats at home, and Bills in Toronto rather than Buffalo. I'll be in the Meadowlands for Week 17 @ the Jets, so I'm hoping for a win there very badly. Hopefully it's an important game for both teams. Or maybe just the Fins.

I like ur predictions but the jets wont sweep us

actually, The Pats would finish 4-2, beating the Bills and Jets twice.
The Jets would be 3-3, beating us twice and the Bills once. We would also be 3-3 beating the Pats twice and the Bills once. The Bills....well the SUCK and would be 2-4, beating the us and the Jets.

Also, CJT....you're right. I shouldn't have said 'no way.' That was ignorant of me.

The Packers have been playing well though, and I don't think it's very likely that the Texans beat them. GB dominated the Colts, and put up one hell of a fight against the Titans.

Thanks.

It was a tough one to pick, but I think they'll do it. We're playing in the Meadowlands. it's going to be cold and our rookies will be wearing down I'm sure.

People keep saying that we'll pound the Jets. I keep hearing the excuse the Pennington had less than a month to learn the offense and will be more prepared this time.

I forget though.....where did he come from? Oh yea, the Jets. Why did they get rid of him? Oh yea, they got Favre. Lastly.....How long did Favre have to practice with the Jets before week 1? Oh yea, one day more than Pennington had to practice with Miami.

If this game were in Miami, I would say we win. I don't think we pull it off in NY on December 28th though.

If we could pulll off a 4th win in our division we would stand a pretty good shot at winning a tie breaker with the pats if it still goes by points.

I really think we can pull off a win against the Bills. For arguements sake, I put the Bills to win it, but it should be a close game. They won't be playing in Buffalo and I'm assuming they will have the roof closed.

With that being said, we could lose to the Pats too. Although I don't think we'll let that happen at home though.

Fins - SEA, OAK, NE, STL, BUF, SF, KC, NYJ

Taking a deeper look at our schedule one can think, how can we possibly lose anymore games?

I know it's very unlikely we will win the rest of our games, but it's also not a far fetched idea with the way this season has gone for most teams.

Seattle and Oakland are shadow games (they may seem like gimmie's, but we have to be careful), but a cross country trip for both these teams I don't see us losing either of these 2 games, especially in Miami.

New England - the good thing is this game is now in Miami and we have been nutoriusly known for somehow beating the Patriots (with the exception of last year). The Patriots are just like the roach that won't die. We can win this one.

St. Louis - If we are going to lose one more game, this is probably going to be it. This is the game that scares me the most. We'll probably be riding high, and the Rams are now better than they were with Linehan as coach. It seems like they are finally playing for something. We may underestimate the Rams, especially being in St. Louis. Too bad they fired Linehan before we got to play them. We may lose this one.

Buffalo - The great thing about this game, is the fact that it's in Toronto where the staduim will be closed nice and warm. One can argue that the Bills have the team to beat us, but we have already proven them wrong once, why couldn;t we do it again? this time in natural turf. We can win.

SF - Another struggling cross country team coming to Miami.....boy did we get a favorable schedule with these west coast teams. I don;t think we will lose this one.

KC - A depleted KC team that we shutout in the pre-season. They have been playing a bit better as of late, but still can't finish games. They simply have the look of a bad team all year. I don't think many things will change for KC this season, despite the travel, we will win this one.

NYJ - aah, the New York Jets. They got really lucky in our first game and we should be a much better team by the end of the season. We owe this game to Pennington. What more could he ask for in beating his previous team in front of his previous crwod. I think our team will rally behind Penny for the simple fact that we owe it to him. We will win.

You see, I see us at 11-5. I know winning these huge stretches of games can be difficult, but there is no clear cut leader in the NFl right now. Anyone can beat anyone on any given Sunday. So why couldn't we go 11-5? We are a Bill Parcells team after all.

We almost have to win the division to get in. This year is tough because wild card will be difficult. I believe the runner up in the AFC North has one of the wild card spots. After that it is a toss up.

How is this being optimistic???? By this post, we miss the playoffs at 10-6.

Honestly, I dont think we have to worry about the Ravens, although I think they might just be the 3rd best team in the AFC, they have a BRUTAL schedule the rest of the way. And really, if we can get to 10-6 there is a strong chance we win the division and hold at least a 3 seed in the playoffs.

The key is us winning those division games. If we do drop a game or two, those non-conference games would be the least damaging to lose. Hell, its entirely possible that at 10-6 we get a BYE in the first round with the #2 seed. Pittsburghs schedule isnt easy either and we might have a shot to pass them by if we can win the division. Id say 11 wins would give us a real good shot at it.

Plus if we do win the division, even if we have to play a first round game, the only team I would fear beating us at home would be Baltimore. Although, the Jets or Pats would certainly be capable of getting us.

I think unless the Colts get to 10 wins, that 3 teams will get in from the AFC East. Baltimores schedule is absolutely brutal. Like I said, I think they might be the 3rd best team in the conference but good luck to them getting 5 more wins out of those last 8. If they do it, hats off to them.

Also, when you look at the Colts, you have to realize how fortunate they are not to be 2-6 right now. Their schedule isnt all that tough the rest of the way, but Im just not so sure they are good enough to beat some of the decent teams they have left. The one advantage they have is if Tennessee has everything wrapped up going into the final game of the season when they play.

Plus as far as tiebreaks go, we HAVE to finish ahead of teams in our division. We will almost need to beat the Jets the last week of the season, even if we are sitting at 10-5. Unless of course both the Colts and Ravens cant get to 10 wins. Because, chances are at worst we will be 2-2 in those NFC games(you can subtract loses from non-conference games to get your conference record which breaks ties in non-division wild card scenerios. So if a team is 3-1 vs. the NFC and another is 2-2 you know that the team who is 2-2 vs the NFC has a better AFC record), which will probably not give us a tiebreak edge on the Colts. The Ravens already own it on us.

Plus, the key is that in wild card ties, ALL DIVISION TIES are broken FIRST. So if we are tied with the Jets and another team for a wild card spot, we will need to have the division tiebreak over the Jets. We CANNOT get swept by them.

You know there is a scenerio that has us 10-5 going into NY on the final week and if we win we get a first round bye and the #2 seed, but if we lose we miss the playoffs entirely. Its that critical.

Fins - SEA, OAK, NE, STL, BUF, SF, KC, NYJ

Good Post. I gotta agree with you - Why can't we beat everyone in our division the 2nd time around? The jets got lucky on a fluke Farve pass to beat us the first time and we are far better now than we were then. As far as the Pats and jills we already got them once and we can again. Unless this team looks past someone left on the schedule we shouldn't lose to any of these other teams including the Rams, but they would be the one team to watch out for. So again, Why not?
