Dolphins have about 39 mil projected cap room.

If they make Brandon Albert and Mario Williams June 1st cuts and negotiate a salary reduction for Pouncey they can clear about 20 mil in cap there.

Then, proceed to release Earl Mitchell,Koa Misi, Kraig Urbick and Dion Jordan and clear an additional 13 mil, leaving a total of about 72 mil in cap room.

We sign Eric Berry and extend Reshad Jones with roughly the same contracts. 5 years 55 mil. We could easily do this without raising Jones 2017 cap number.

Move Abdul Quddus to slot corner because his coverage grades are better than Bobby's and McCain was atrocious against the run last year. If we can get Byron Maxwell to work his butt off this offseason to improve HIS horrific play in run support, we could improve generally against run significantly with that help.

The really, really bad news is that there really isn't anything for us in free agency with regards to 4-3 LB's. I'm dead serious. Do the research. The LB's with decent grades have very little chance of hitting free agency.

Sign RG Kevin Zietler. Kelechi Osemele money 5years 60 mil.
Sign OLB Zach Brown contract?????? sorry this one is just too uncertain He will hit free agency though....http://www.thescore.com/news/1200824
Sign Abry Jones DT 5 years 40 million
Sign Anthony Fasano 2 years 6 mil Fasano remains the best blocking TE in the NFL. No other TE in the league has blocking grades anywhere near those of Fasano. It Matters!!!
Sign Marqueiss Goodwin WR Fastest man in the NFL. Makes a nice decoy, too bad he can't catch the ball. 3 yrs 7 mil
Sign Margus Hunt 2 years 5 mil Hunt has never fulfilled the expectations many had because of his freak athleticism, however, even though he is worthless as a pass rusher he graded out very nicely against the run this last year in limited snaps. 77.3 by PFF. Ten points higher than Chandler Jones. He might be a nice bargain to rotate with Cam Wake.
Bring back Andre Branch one year
We tender Kiko and Damien Williams. We bring all of our ERFA's to camp.

The free agent stuff is all based on PFF grading and the draft is based on CBSDraft/NFLDraftScout.com This scenario takes 3rd,4th,and 5th round comp picks

Draft: Dolphins trade down out of the first round and garner an early 3rd round pick.

My biggest ? is at OLB. TJ Watt might not be the wise choice. Defense would be way better even with our crappy scheme. If Kpassagnon is half the guy I think he may be, could be huge from the getgo. OL would go from the rock bottom to top 10 IMO. I really like Bisnowaty. A healthy Pouncey?? Doubt it, but who knows. Remember Steen was playing with a significant injury when he was taking snaps last year. He might be alright if Pouncey's career is over. If he could just stay healthy the first 6-7 games I think the young left side of the line would be fine.

All this and you don't have us picking a MLB until the 4th round? And your letting stills walk? Man I'm glad you ain't our GM.

I may not agree with your take but I appreciate the effort you put into these.

You lost me at Eric Berry. KC isn't going to re-sign him? Two top tier, ultra expensive safeties?

Seems to be working out pretty well for Seattle. When creating a D for todays pass happy NFL it can hide a lot of deficiencies.

We are moving Quddus to our primary nickel CB?

I don't mind these threads, but there is always too much going on for me to take it seriously.

Maybe...I can't see KC letting him go as close as they are; I also don't see us cutting Albert this year, but that's another maybe.
I do appreciate the effort in this, though; didn't mean to sound snarky just cuz I don't agree.

Huge needs at SLB, WLB, DT, DE and nickle corner with a decent FS already under contract for over $5M and we sign the most expensive FS in the league? Jeff Ireland...is that you?

Nice effort.

I'd sign Berry over extending Reshad in a heartbeat. That would be the only way the signing makes sense.

It's obvious you put a lot of thought into this thread.

Interesting how much money Miami could have with some of those moves. I like the idea of keeping Brandon Albert, though. I think he has been a good leader and teacher for young players like Laremy Tunsil.

I like the Watt pick in the draft.

I agree with you on both. Signing Berry was maybe the one point in the thread I agreed with.

Albert trying to play with a dislocated wrist IMO is what really hurt him.

I also want Stills and Sims back.

Sign a quality G in FA and then go D heavy in the draft would be my off-season plans after cutting some dead weight.

Good grief, really? You can't see the advantage to having a slot CB with superior coverage skills who is also very good against the run? Are you blind?? This move could instantaneously turn our secondary from being mediocre in coverage and bad against the run to being elite in both respects if Maxwell gets off his high horse and decides play some run defense.

If there was an all pro LB coming clear in free agency I would say ya sure, that first; but there isn't. Look, the Donta Hightower issue was settled when the Patriots traded Jamie Collins. He won't be there, neither will Perry Riley. Like I posted originally, there is nothing there in free agency as far as 4-3 LB's and Zach Brown is a big risk IMO as well; however....we are desperate for help against the run aren't we?

The Chiefs are projected at around 4 mil in cap room right now. That doesn't even cover their rookie pool for 2017. Yes they will certainly release Nick Foles and Jamaal Charles resulting in around 17 mil in cap; however, they have other free agents.

Yes, they could go all in Eric Berry, but they would probably have to let Dontari Poe walk, along with others and have nothing in the bank for other free agents and emergencies in case of injury during the season and no rollover, nada.

Eric Berry is likely to hit free agency and he is likely to get more than 10 mil a year. Safeties who are complete players and extraordinary athletes are in demand in today's NFL. They are beginning to get money comparable to the better CB's and rightfully so. In today's game, they have to be just as good as corners in coverage and be solid against the run because in most cases there are only two LB's on the field, and in some cases only one LB on the field.

Slot corner is a huge position in today's game. Coverage is primary, but you also need a guy who can play the run, at least at some respectable level. McCain was decent in coverage but had one of the lowest run support grades in the league. By upgrading at the safety position and moving Quddus to slot we become better everywhere and improve our depth.

Again, Quddus scored ten points higher in his coverage grade than McCain and he is light years ahead of McCain against the run.
