A look back at the 2005 draft

• Maurice Clarett (released by Denver, current grade: 40) was the ninth running back drafted in 2005. He has more arrests than rushing yards in the NFL.

lol

It was a horrible draft for us as usual and here is why
#2 Ronnie Brown hey I can live with this pick but he is always injured but I like him and we havent had an Oline so thats his defense but here is who we could have had
#3 Braylon Edwards # 11 Demarcus Ware #12 Merriman

#46 Matt Roth WOW here was a great pick here who was left
#48 Odell Thurman #56 Darrent Williams #57 Justin Miller #59 Babineaux #65 Frank Gore

#70 Channing Crowder I like him but here was who we could have had
#71 Alex Smith TE #74 Justin Tuck #75 Eric Green #78 Kirk Morrison #79 Fox
#84 Ellis Hobbs #93 Trai Essex #95 Daryl Blackstock #96 Brandon Jones #97 Foxworth

#104 Travis Daniels He is terrible and should not even be in the league but who left
#109 Marion Barber #110 Brandon Jacobs #111 Elton Brown #114 Mathis
#123 Kery Rhodes #125 B Pop***** #132 Chris Canty #146 Trent Cole #149 Seward
#154 Robert McCune #157 Sensabaugh

#162 Alabi and heres who there
#179 Bo Scaife #204 Chris Kemoeatu #213 Derek Anderson

Another fine example of the Dolphins great draft picks . For the record we could be the worst draft day team ever. Does anyone else agree. I mean cmon do we just draw names out of a hat. My 2 yr old nephew could pick better players. Thats all

Crowder is better than most of the players u mentioned.

In fairness to Daniels, after his rookie season he looked like a great pick for the 4th round.

He just digressed unfortunately since then

I also believe we wanted Corey WEBSTER but Giants leap frogged us and grabbed him inthe 2nd.

But yeah, all in all, Not 1 pick went the way I liked or wanted.

All of those guys were guys who had and still have potential, but who knows if we will ever see it. Atleast Ronnie had 5 games of greatness though.

This could be done with each and every draft. What is the point, really? If drafts were done in hindsight, who wouldn't hit 100% on their picks every year?

Braylon would be great to have, but I would still take a healthy Ronnie Brown over him. Besides, I highly doubt Braylon would have had the same success with Miami's offense, considering the overall instability, especially at QB. Before last year, he had showed flashes of elite play, but he wasn't really on the cusp of stardom like he now is. If we had picked him, chances are a lot of people on this site are calling him a bust right now. Brown has had some bad luck with freskish type injuries, but he still needs to show he can stay healthy and be productive for a whole season. Look on the bright side, though. Would you rather have taken Alex Smith if he hadn't gone #1? How about Cedric Benson or Cadillac?

Merriman or Ware would have been great, too, but they both would have been seen as reaches at #2. On top of that, defense was the one strength of the team at the time. How many of you would have been crying in your beer on draft day if either of them had been the pick? Remember, 8 other teams or more passed on both of them as well.

Oddly enough we are one of the only teams that still has all the 05 draft picks active in the nfl... it actually is the one of the better drafts we've had in the last 6 or 7 yrs.

sorry thats wrong.

Okay lets look at the other players mentioned

Alex Smith TE 30 something catches Yes Crowder is a better player
Justin Tuck DE 80 career tackles , 3 starts last year Crowder is better
although 10 sacks makes Tuck look like he will be better but thats only one year and Crowder has started from year one while Tuck had the one good year and did nothing else the other 2.

Eric Green one career interception, sorry as a Cb thats not good. Crowder is better.

Kirk Morrison LB is clearly better so far.
Ellis Hobbs CB good player but so far Crowder is better
Trai Essex T better uh no lol. started 4 games in three years. crowder better
darryl Blaystock LB wow, he had 37 tackles in career. Crowder is way better
Brandon Jones WR 20 catches a year lol Crowder much better
Dominique Foxworth CB part time starter . Crowder once again much better.

So maybe some arguement on Tuck but still of the 9 players mentioned only Morrison has had a better career. So please explain how I am wrong. If you hate Crowder fine but you have nothing to defend your statement. Please show me how I am wrong.

u just cant do this in drafts . . . some people are fortunate to get drafted in the right system with the right players and the right situation . . . and them being drafted by one team completely changes their career.

Really couldn't have been said better.

Throw Ronnie Brown, who could be excellent and top 3 material behind the lines of let's say the Patriots or hell, even a mediocre line with an offense that has more threats. He'd be a star right now, and most likely not injured. Ever since Dan Marino left it's been a Ricky and Ronnie train show and it's not very hard to game plan "stop the runningback" when their own offensive hope is running the ball.

was Jason Allen 2005 or 2006?
