POLL: A lot of options at QB

As I see it, and this is no revelation, the biggest decision that Saban has to make this offseason concerns the QB position. Deals concerning TO and Ricky hinge on what Saban can do to upgrade at QB. TO likely won't mix with just an average QB, or a rookie QB. And we may have to deal Ricky if we want to trade up in the draft or for QB currently on another team.
But we may be in luck because while QB is our single greatest need there are a handful of viable options. Tell me which one you think will be best for the team.

aaron brookes intrigues me but personally i think we need a pocket passer more than anything

If I had any more options to choose from, I'd just say: "Call Bubby Brister"...Geez! That's not a poll, that's an anger management test!

Thats a pretty comprehensive poll on a subject that garners a lot of diverse discussion. Nice job. Would be interesting to hear the boards thoughts.

Now that ya mention it, Brooks could actually be an intriguing choice in a Mularkey run offense. Look what he did Kordell. And unless you are high on crack, I think just about everyone here would agree that Brooks is better than Kordell. I would be ok with using Brooks as a stop gap but I still want us to draft a qb. It is time for the fins to stop dumpster diving when it comes to finding a solution to the qb equation.

The best part is i do see him coming here

Then prepare yourself for several more years of mediocrity and disappointments in big games.

Well, I dissagree that if we deal RW that means he'll use that pick for a QB. He could, of course, but I think we have other holes to fill. I'd like to see us draft someone (Croyle, Jacobs, etc) in the 2nd or 3rd round but still go after a younger Gus to allow time for the young gun to develop. Gus won't give the young guy time to develop. He'll tank it again no doubt. If we had a McCown or Brooks (after NO cuts him) or even Kitna (if he is not resigned)...We would be in better shape than with Gus...

The other thing, is that if he signs Brooks or McCown before the draft, if the right guy isn't there or doesn't come available for us to get, or if trading up even in the 2nd or 3rd rounds to get the guy we want don't work out, we're still better in the QB position with Gus, [Brooks or McCown] and Lemon....

And highlights on ESPN for all the "what was he thinking" plays. AB is the human blooper reel.

How do the QBs listed fit the system Mularkey would be implementing? I know he's going to stick pretty much to the kind of system Linehan had but he's bound to do a few things differently and that could affect what type of QB fits best.

The only place Brooks runs is backwards (he seriously needs to stop that), I don't think you can consider him a mobile QB anymore. Also I wouldn't mind him here if we can improve the quality of our receivers, though I'm not sure if he really would be that big of an upgrae over Gus.

Aaron Brooks certainly has the potential be to a good NFL QB but his instincts seem to take over and aren't always to be trusted. Athletically and in terms of his passing, he's above average but he would have to really put in a lot of work and an amazing amount of reps to try to change his programming.
