I hear complaining about bob Griese and Nat Moore in the booth. Maybe because I live in PA and only hear these guys during preseason and then I get game of the week analysts on CBS. But I think they are endearing and they provide a certain level and aspect of Dolphin ambiance.

I know they make mistakes and are homers, but I love their stories and I know Griese could never replace Mandich, but I like that Miami keeps it in the family. And Stockton keeps it moving along well. I guess it helps that Moore was my first favorite Dolphin. I guess what I'm saying is that we should appreciate these guys a bit more because they are Dolphin history and they won't be around forever.

I do agree Cefalo is boring but he tries and he is a Fin for life.

actually listening to cefalo the other night was much better prob cus plays were much better. But Ceffy was telling a story about shula days and mentioned some dude nobody remmbers or knew and this guys was telling cefalo in the locker room that he was going to go out and "make some serious plays in practice today" and then an hour later they didnt see him out on the field.

I saw a thread the other day criticizing Griese, and Im going to say now Bob Griese forgot more about football than any of us on these boards have ever known to begin with and, is one of the classiest guys around.When Bob played he wasnt the biggest guy on the field,but he dam sure was the smartest ! He was like a surgeon moving the team up and down the field,slicing into the opposing team with great play calling and passes all around the place,handing to Csonk,Morris or throwing to Warfield. He has always shown class as well,and did so in the tv broadcast twice in paying real tribute to "Mad Dog,Jim Mandich" during the game,even doing Mad Dog's '"Alrightttt Miami in tribute once !!! Bob Griese has always been an all time favorite of mine,winner of 2 Superbowls and the only perfect season in NFL history, so I dont like to see others who have put him down do so,they need to learn the history of the Miami Dolphins and how much this man has meant to the organization,and give him some time to get use to the team players and such because trust me the man brings alot to the game when it comes to his insight !!!

Regardless of the esteem you or I hold for him, or our opinions of his personal character or impact to the dolphins as a player, he is a horrid announcer. It is a simple as that. He does not belong on major broadcasts for the entire length of time. If he had a minimal role like that of Kim Bokamper that would help dramatically, and allow him to plan out his dialouge a bit more. Quite simply, 3 hours of broadcast time highlight the fact that his facilities are what they used to be. I would think that any BOB griese fan would be begging for him to stop, because it takes away from the image many hold of him.

So far so true - his qualifications as a player mean nothing as to how good an announcer he is. The greatest example of this, of course, is Emmitt Smith.

I don't think he's horrible, but he does make some god-awful mistakes. For instance, when they were introducing our defensive lineup, Cefalo (IIRC) asks him to talk a bit about Dansby... and then he goes and talks about Odrick. And not even great tidbits, just some generic "yeah, another guy from Penn..."

Yes Bob Griese was a great Dolphin QB, but he is one of the worst comentators in the business. The fact that he doesnt know anything about the Miami Dolphins currently should keep him out of the broadcast booth. He should stick to college football.

Not really, you never saw him play when he actually played. He was a field general who unlike any of these guys today, actually called his own plays.

Nothing he does as a senior citizen diminishes what he accomplished for the Miami Dolphins or his image. He is still the only QB in Dolphin history to bring this team championships...he is a hall of famer.

That's overrated. Sure, he called his own plays - like almost *all* of the QBs of his era. Offensive schemes (and further, defensive schemes) were much simpler, it was an easier job mentally.

Griese is one of my all time favorite Qb's. It was him and Roger the Dodger when I first started watching football. With that being said, the guy says some stupid shiz in the booth and seems like he is hitting Grand pa's old cough syrup between commercials.

He was named MVP of the league and multiple other awards. To try to suggest playcalling in 70's was easy is BS.

I never said it was "easy", I said it was "easier". And it was, for the reasons already mentioned. And again, the fact that he called his own plays is meaningless in context: most QBs did it back then.

And I never said Griese was overrated. Please read carefully what I write before replying.

For those of us that watched him at QB, it was a pleasure watching him work, it seemed when the pressure was on, so was Griese, and if you never saw him in a game, you missed an all time great field general who was also one of the smartest players on the field almost everytime he was out there.
