So many talk about how the great coaches (with personel control) know their strategy and get players that fit the system. True on defense and offense. True in FA and draft. Having said that how many times have we heard somebody, usually Wanny, say he got the "best player" available. Drafting fletcher/moore as an example or picking up Seau and Knight when we needed O line help. The teams in the SB have less talent than miami. However they are playing and we missed the playoffs. Lets hope the decision to take Wanny's personel power away rectifies these problems. Perhaps we could have a team next year instead of a bunch of probowlers wearing the same uniform. We need people with team focus that FIT A SYSTEM.:yell:

The problem that arises when coaches have personnel power is that coaches have a tendancy to fall in love with certain players. Because of that, they put a higher grade on those players and overdraft them. A coach will take a player who is slated for the 3rd round and draft him in the 1st round because he likes that player.

A GM with a history on the scouting side of the operations will take that same player and try to get him in the 3rd round.

If you have a GM that is willing to work with his head coach, the GM will get the players that fits what that coach wants to do. The difference is the GM will likely get that player at value where the coach will overvalue that player.
