Maybe Sparano and the staff held back in this game. Maybe they did not open it up because the game means very little in the standings. Atlanta is a NFC west team. If we lose to them it really does not mean much in the standings. They are not in the AFC, they are not in the AFC East. Not saying he did not want to win the game, but he kept it pretty basic. Knowing Indy is probably an AFC contender, I expect a much better outing on Monday.

Why don't you ask the 11-5 pats team from last yr what 1 game means....

nfc south my friend

Give the man a break. I mean he does have a point. Although I agree every game is important, it is a possibility they want to save some of their tricks for later. They used what, one play of trickery with the pass to Haynos? And like two other Wildcat plays which were pretty basic. As far as gameplanning goes he could be right.

God knows, there has to be more up their sleeve with Pat white in the mix. although the pedestrian plan of attack could have also been due to the fact that we didn't think Atlanta was gonna give us that much trouble. They're Defense isn't exactly feared, so they could have been saving the box of tricks for better Defensive Teams. Who knows, I mean it is good speculation.

That game probably cost us a playoff spot. :pop:

It's starting to get kind of sad when we somehow rationalize throwing the first game away.

No, the coach didn't hold back. We just got beat.

No, I don't think they were holding back. I just think Atlanta came into this game jacked up and the Phins were just not mentally ready to match that.
During the Saban yrs we beat a pretty good Carolina team on opening day for the same reason. Live and learn.
However, its clear the Phins were never a threat to go undefeated, so if you are going to lose, it is better to lose against an NFC team. Tiebreakers may be important at the end of the season and division and conference records hold a lot more weight.
