A Perfect Complementary Piece Is Out There...Gulp

The young quarterback dropped back smoothly in the pocket, looked off the safety and dropped a gorgeous touch pass over the coverage and into the corner of the end zone. His surprised target came out of his break to see the ball arcing downward, and reached up to snatch it just beyond a cornerback’s flailing arms.

Wooooooooooo! numerous Denver Broncos players exclaimed in unison, marveling at the inexperienced passer’s chutzpah and skill.

Yep, Broncos fans – it seems Adam Weber(notes), a rookie free agent from Minnesota, has a little bit of game.

If you’re wondering about the plight of that other inexperienced passer on the Broncos’ roster – how far and fast he has fallen in the eyes of his bosses – consider that at least some people in the organization believe that Tim Tebow(notes) is the fourth-best quarterback on the roster.

As one highly knowledgeable member of the organization told me Monday, “If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy. Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, and Tebow’s way behind [Brady] Quinn, too. And I’m telling you, Adam Weber is flat-out better right now.”

Thats one of the reasons why we dont trade for Tebow. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

How is he a complimentary piece? What role is he filling and how is it complimenting other roles? You can't call someone a complimentary piece to the puzzle when he wouldn't be complimenting anything. So unless I'm missing something, it seems another article by a Tebow fan boy with little basis in fact or football knowledge...

I second (third? fourth?) all the "make it stop" replies.

Just this offseason, it's been Orton, Garrard, Flynn, Josh Johnson, Brett Favre (!)... that's just off the top of my head.

Let's stop craving other teams' trash. QB is *not* a position to be filled via trade or FA. We, of all teams and all fanbases, should know better than that.

Not that I disgree with your post entirely but tell that to GB (Favre), Houston (Schaub), 49ers (Young), KC (Green), NO (Brees).. I'm sure there are more I could list if I had time to think about it.

Tebow.. no thanks. If we wanna run the wildcat go ahead. But other than that. No thanks.

There are *very* little examples. Succesful QBs simply do not hit FA or the trade block under normal circumstances.

You listed 5 QBs in a span of 20+ years. It simply doesn't happen often, and to keep trying and trying only deprives your team of much needed picks/cap space.

Folks, please read the article before you respond. You may be sick of Tebow speculation, but at least take a few minutes to read it before bashing it. I am not a fan of Tebow as a quarterback at all, but the idea of converting him to a TE is not bad - he is a good athlete, after all. The author makes it clear that Tebow would be a project, and as long as the Dolphins would make it obvious that he is a project, I don't see much of an issue with the possibility.

i think tebow would be great here, not because we need jesus(we do) but leadership is high and the guy needs to come home.

The problem with Tebow is that when you pick him up, you also get the "Tebow Thing", the circus, and media attention that comes with him. It's not worth that headache for a guy that at best would be a project for the Wildcat or a few special plays.

this new offense seems quick tempo, short drops, accurate crossing routes, weakside progressions, basically a lot of options in the passing game and decisions are made quickly and the ball comes out....Tebow would be a disaster.
