a perfectly good explanation for the marshall trade

Another thing ... may or may not have come into play ...

Marshall was a Tuna deal.

More & more I see that Ireland has a much different idea of building a team than Tuna & is out to change things. Remember after Tuna left ... Ireland flat out said the team was slow & didn't have playmakers ... dig at ze old boss ... and he was right!!

This whole train of thought is complete nonsense. No team with a brain would ever trade a top WR because a free agent QB asked them to do so...without first being certain that the free agent QB had signed on the dotted line. Who would take that risk that another team could swoop in a offer twice the money and sign the free agent QB? Now you traded your best player, and the free agent QB is gone. It would never happen like this. And considering Marshall was traded 6 hours ago, and Manning hasn't signed for Miami yet, this theory is pure garbage.

Bottom line, our front office, new coach, and owner have created another debacle. I am not one to defend Brandon Marshall to the death, but the fact is, he was a weapon that opposing defenses needed to gameplan around, utilize double-coverage to stop, or assign their best corner to follow. That's gone now. The Brandon Marshall-Darrell Revis matchup doesn't happen anymore. So, who is going to draw Darrell Revis now when we play the Jets? Gates?? Please.

This has probably been coming, that's what I believe. Too many dropped td's, catches. His Pro Bowl MVP crap does not impress if it does not help Miami get to the playoffs. Then again, maybe it impressed the Bears.

Chicago is impressed w/ underachieving. How else do you explain the irrational fascination w/ the Cubs?

Can't fathom Manning not wanting to throw to Marshall because of character issues. This is not my father's game anymore. Football is fading whilst twitter twinkles with pro prattle. They used to speak with voluminous silence on Sundays. The rest was for the women and children.

It seems by getting rid of Marshall there is no point in getting Manning anymore. Might as well go into a rebuilding mode and dish out Reggie Bush too.

That's fine. What's not cool is creating a new hole to fill and getting hosed while doing it.

The hole would have been there if he gets into scrapes with Philbin, Sherman, Manning, Flynn, or Tannehill.

Guess I disagree with the getting hosed part. He cost a pair of twos (too much IMO with his baggage), and since that time was involved a trial involving the death of a teammate that didn't make him look good and a domestic stabbing incident where he was non-cooperative with the police and investigators. He makes a lot of money. Racks up garbage stats to make the pro bowl but drops passes in big games. Melted down in Denver and has shown signs of repeating the same here. Disloyal to at least two of the QBs he played with here, might have been three but we'd have to ask Thigpen about that.

We walk away with a pair of threes. Why would anyone give up more? We might be able to solidify the RT spot with his cap money. I'll take it.

Honestly, we need to take everything else out of the equation. We traded our best player, for 2 3rd Rounders. And you might as well consider them 4th rounders, because the Bears will be a top-7 team. Trade Marshall if it needed to be done, BUT get value for him! TERRIBLE, ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE trade!!!

Even if we would have gotten Manning, Wayne, VJax, Garcon, and half the Saints offense - it does NOT justify getting only very low 3rd round picks for a top wide receiver.

Marshall is a head case, he didnt live up to his potiental here, i wish him luck but i will not lose sleep because he is no longer on the team......if anything this tells me they are bringing in a young QB tht wont have to deal with the crying from a diva wr...........

I will wait until after the draft before i start judging the offseason.

you know I agree that getting rid of him when we don't have a viable #1 to replace him seems stupid, it kinda is, but Marshall was not really a player I thought of as being great, or even reliable. I would rather we dump that underachiever and find us a real #1. Who knows maybe they are gonna stockpile some picks to move up for blackmon. I'm down with that.
