A personal statement on the Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito situation

I just wanna put out there IDC care if he is gay, all I said was that if it came out he was gay then it would make some sense

so the flamboyent gays...its not their personality?

I don't care if he is gay I just don't think a grown black man on a ream made up mostly of black men is gonna take offense to the n word. of it was the n word and martin told some of the other black players wouldn't they be mad as well?

"Flamboyant" would be the personality just as "overly macho" would be; being gay or strait has nothing to do with it...

Being flamboyant is a personality trait. Being gay is a sexual orientation. They aren't mutually inclusive.

I honestly don't understand what his race or sexual orientation has to do with anything.

I don't know if he is gay, but he is definitely lame, and a coward. This is coming from someone who was bullied and beat up all thru high school, to the point that my parents made me leave for college early. If the man is being bullied, stand up for yourself, or tell someone who will do it for you. Don't sit there and take it, or even worse help they bully other people.

I wouldnt call him a coward because I dont know the whole particulars

people are too sensitive these days....if he had a mental illness I'm sure it wouldve been known. and depression is considered a mental illness....so I guess after the 4 game losing streak all of us fin fans had mental illness.

This just proves the OP's point. You do not understand the difference between fan driven disappointment and diagnosed depression.

There has been a long history of mental illness in my family. My mother suffers from it, my aunt is in an institution, my cousin jumped out of a 9th floor building and survived...

And I would NEVER come on this board and pontificate as to how people should or should not interpret these events.

THAT in itself is manipulation.

What I've found, is that people like to chastise things, especially in the moment to suit their particular end. While at the same time find no problem in making fun of or insulting others.

No one is perfect, and you'll never erase what people really feel.

Worry about yourself. Let others worry about them.

Funny how the more people try and tell people to live this flat line perfect world life, the more ****ed up it's becoming.

Coincidence.... NOT.

Don't worry about that - Martin will never be playing in the NFL again. To jeopardize the team's interest over your own, for whatever reason, will never sit well in a locker room.

People sometimes believe the NFL is above the law. It is not. The legal system is more than capable of forcing the Dolphins to take him back.

Who's to say that Martin is flamboyant? And who's to say that other black players weren't upset by Incognito's use of a racial epithet? And if it is true, why is Incognito using racial epithets in the first place? And more importantly, why is Incognito putting texting things that he doesn't want the general public to know? Don't any of these "college graduates" realize that all this stuff they tweet/email/Instagram et al can be saved and shared all over the place? If you don't want this stuff getting out in the first place, DON'T USE EMAIL OR SOCIAL MEDIA! It's like Aaron Hernandez. All of his movements the night of Odin Lloyd's murder was recorded, right down to the convenience store he bought gum in.

Not trying to put anyone down on here, but some of you guys (myself included) need to get out more and intermingle with the larger society, not just your own social group. Attend seminars or ethnic festivals, or gay pride festivals, or neighborhood festivals that are not your own. Attend an open house or meeting at a non-profit mental health agency, join their board, volunteer in an under-privileged community. Get familiar with people that have physical and/or mental disabilities. Get out of your comfort zone, meet new people and get a new perspective on things. I know we all lead very busy lives, but I know there are a lot of good, well intentioned, intelligent, people on this board and believe me your community needs you. I beg you all to embrace diversity, and I guarantee it will en-richen your lives and it will make America an even better country!!!!

P.S.

I wish Incog would have spent more time "bullying" our opponents instead of goofing off in the locker room....

guess you don't get sarcasm....my point was everything is considered a mental illness these days...your sad? take a pill!

Amen Brother. Way too many assumptions are being thrown out there before knowing the rest of the story. And I will say this...maybe Martin doesn't have a "tough" personality, but the NFL has long had a history of players that were nice guys off the field and monsters on it. 2 that come to mind quickly are Rosie Greer and Merlin Olsen. We had our own Ricky Williams who was softspoken and introspective but an absolute beast on the field. I personally don't care who or what Martin is off the field; we should care about what he did (past tense) on it. It's a shame that we may lose 2 OL simply because of hazing games that apparently went way too far...and where were our leaders on this team to make sure that didn't happen??

Gay or not, Martin is not new to the football life mentality.

I think this is less about Incongito, or football, and simply about Martin not being able to cope with the profession of NFL football and the type of men that play this brutally violent game.

I wouldn't doubt his agent is spinning his damnedest web to ensure that he and his client make sure they get their money.

I never said martin was flamboyant....and noone knows what he said I was speculating just like everyone is speculating the incognito comes into the Davie facility with a white hood and burns a cross in the parking lot.

Careful what you say on this board. You could wind up front-page on Deadspin.

whether it was a racist or a gay slur it was handled by martin poorly. I really don't care if he is or isn't the only thing I care about is how this guy has hurt this team.
