I woke up in a great and positive mood. Everything Ive heard coming out on the various reports is DH is having a great off season. I am as guilty as anyone in bashing the guy and talking junk about his rims, cars...etc. I think he feels real pressure and is actively being pushed by Davone Bess for that 3rd reciever spot. In its simplest form.....we need him to have a good season. My prediction:

51 recs 825 yds = 16.17 avg per catch and 4 tds. I think that would be a step in the right direction. Thoughts?

My message to DH: Hold on to the dang ball!! If he can accomplish that minor feat he might be an NFL WR.

yeah, Derek needs to concentrate on making the catch. He appears have, at least, solid NFL WR skills but just needs to bring it all together and hold onto the ball.

hopefully he breaks out. hes got the skills. I dont think hes been there mentally the past 2 years, hence the drops. its now or never for him.. good size and speed and hands when he isnt being like chambers and dropping the easy ones. i think hes the wild card for this offense.

i have a solution to his drop problems and idk why the wr coach hasn't thought of it yet but have the qb start throwing him rims..the spinners..i bet he would be able to concentrate on the ball..or for every td he gets the front office gives him one rim.
i was feeling positive about him until i heard bess was in serious contension to take his job. if a undrafted kid is playing better ball then maybe we should cut loose of the weak link but im all for giving him atleast preseason to make some noise.

Problem is he has been nothing like Chambers and made no plays for the most part. Chambers for all of his faults was our best receiver for years and we probably dont have a guy on our roster that will have a better career than him. Back to Hagan, Sparano mentioned him in his interview so he is getting noticed.I actually like Hagan and think people have been too premature to label him. He needs to play more to get better and its not like we have better options behind him.

Also I have not heard that Bess has outplayed him this offseason. Hagan has seemed to do a very good job this offseason.

outplayed may be too strong a word so far considering tc hasn't started but there is a post called "ireland on bess" which states if bess continues to impress through tc that he could very well challenge hagan for that third spot. im not sure if those were irelands words or the media.

Those are great numbers but I think he will have to start to put those numbers up. I dont think wilford will have better numbers than that and Ginn's may only be slightly better catchwise. I like it though and hope he does break out.

Hell it may be true but Sparano seemed pretty happy with Hagan in his interview unless maybe I was distracted. I personally hope he gets it together because a healthy, focused Hagan may be our best receiver if he lives up to potential.

wow FKA. I sure hope you are right. That a bold prediction for a player with butter-fingers.
I am very bold...even outraegeous at times. Those numbers are probably a little high because he wont start, but I think he will be in that ballpark somewhere. I dont really care about numbers, I want quality routes and imprtant catches from DH, if anything to make the defense have to think about him and give Ted Ginn a little room to breathe

Hagan has tremedous talent but just lacks the consistency. If he gains that consistency, he could be a pro bowler IMO.

yes that would be great stats for our third reciever but the last 2 yrs have not been good for recievers here.
in 06 welker had 67 rec for 667 yrds,cc had 59 for 677,booker w/55,747 and hagan w/21 and 221. 07 brought us book with 50 rec/556,ginn had 34/420 and hagan had 29/373.
now you may be right as far as tds and yrd avg but i don't see hagan thrown to that much for that many yrds especially with having a better t.e,ricky and ronnie also getting passes and running the ball alot more with 2 reciever/2 t.e sets. but those numbers would definatley hush some people. it's been far too long since we've had a reciever with 1000 yrd other than that one yr with chambers so our third wr getting over 800 would be splendid.

yes, I would be happy with that production... It would be a step in the right direction, as long as he doesnt drop 30 balls trying to get to 51 recs and 825 yards, essentially losing out on 81 catches for 1000+ yards
